Once again Di I am absolutely THRILLED to see you here sweetie  It means a lot that you've come over here and you've been such an amazing contributor as always  I'm sorry Norwich lost today sweetie, even more so seeing as you were at the game. Looks like I missed a very interesting conversation. Sorry I didn't contribute but I was out with my friends. I'm away to bed now and no doubt I'll be talking to you all tomorrow xxx

Eimear:hug: :awww:thanks.

To be honest I am very gutted about yesterdays match. The goal was clearly OK,David Mooney never fouled any Wednesday players,in fact one of their players made contact with their own goalkeeper. It was awful,Mooney was allowed to wheel away and celebrate, the ground was rocking and then....the ref was called over...the linesman said the keeper had been fouled. I saw kids in tears once they realised the goal wasn't going to be allowed.

Tori,Mia:wavey: I am sorry to read about your health problems:awww::hug::hug: I've had the dreaded mono too,my immune system packed in after that too:( I don't mind discussions like these. We can show empathy and help each other;)

people who haven't had it don't realise how evil it is. I have asthma now because of it and can't do things as well even after years. For example i am crap at badminton but love it and now a match kills me which I was fine with before.

I used to have my exams in sheffield wednesday's grounds

but-it's-ok
04-05-2009, 09:56 AM
:wavey: Tori are you from the Sheffield area then? If you are I hope I haven't offended you with the football talk against a Sheffield Club. Many clubs have Study Centres, did you take your exams in one there?

I'm from North Derbyshire, the place known for its Crooked Spire church - Chesterfield:D

Di I just looked at that video ... that's an absolute disgrace it really is!!! No Norwich player was even NEAR the keeper. It was CLEARLY a Sheff Wed player who made the contact. I'm angry for you now :awww:

I've never had mono in my life, thank God, but I do have plenty of other health problems and I know how hard they can be to deal with so you all have my sympathy

I did my post grad at Sheffield uni. We had some of our exams in the gym at Sheffield wednesday's ground. My old flatmate used to play for Sheffield Wednesdays ladies I think but I never supported either of the teams so you are ok. I used to live not far from united and it used to get really noisy round match times.

I live in Worcestershire now. I still love Sheffield and Leeds and go back when I can.

but-it's-ok
04-05-2009, 10:16 AM
Tori one of my best mates is from Sheffield, and she supports United. She lived in Eckington but now she's living in Beauchief, there's a nice tennis Centre that I used to play at. I do have friends who go to Sheffield Uni. What subject did you graduate in Tori?

Where in Worcestershire do you live? I'm getting nosey now:o I've been to Worcester,I love the city, beautiful cathedral, the River Severn walks, and to the New Road cricket ground:hearts:

Eimear, thanks. I saw the incident clearly and the linesman seemed to be the only one who disagreed, trouble is he convinced the referee:o:mad: We're hanging on just outside the relegation places, that decision could mean we go into League 1:fiery:

Eimear O'Mahony
04-05-2009, 10:19 AM
That's just disgraceful. It's hard enough battling against relegation as it is without stupid dumb linesmen making game (and possibly season) changing decisions like that!

04-05-2009, 10:23 AM

Tori, ooh thats nice you work in Worcester:hearts: Are you a lawyer then, which area do you specialise in? I'm doing Law,I'm in my 1st year. I do a lot of home study,I'm doing Criminal Law right now. I'm not sure which area I'm going to specialise in,I work in a Citizens Advice Bureau part-time,because of the recession we're very, very busy, especially with people who have become homeless or in debt. There's so many areas of law you need to be aware of working there,I'm learning as I go along, its great fun. I've just done my first year of training as an administrator, now its the advice side I'm training in;)

Eimear O'Mahony
04-05-2009, 10:30 AM
Yeah one day it might happen. Its things like that that, in my opinion, reinforce the need for a second referee behind the goal line or something like that (although maybe in this case it might not have made much difference). It's happening all too often and it's so frustrating when it happens, especially when you're supporting a team that's struggling anyway! Have you got much planned for the day girlies? I hope we're going to be watching Mr. Murray in action against Nole later on

Cloudygirl

I was working in law but I have just moved jobs out of law (well kind of it is still in law but not bit complicated to explain). Not sure it is the career for me. Think I might end up retraining in something like social work but not really sure yet.

I like things like family law, employment law and crim I really don't like the commercial side. I think for most people it is an either / or.

Oh yeah you're starting your new job tomorrow aren't you Tori? How are you feeling about that? No bother to you I'm sure. Sounds like you've got a busy day ahead of you Di. Have a great day! You too Tori. Don't work too hard! I'll be watching Man U/Aston Villa and then Djoko/Murray so a nice afternoon of sport for me. It's not a bad day here so I might head for a little walk on the beach after dinner before settling down to watch the sport

Cloudygirl
04-05-2009, 10:39 AM
I am a bit scared about the new job. It is just the meeting new people thing, I'm quite shy.

I think the job will be ok (welll fingers crossed). I love F1 almost as much as tennis so it is very exciting. I would love to drive a car really really fast.

Eimear O'Mahony
04-05-2009, 11:06 AM
Yeah, meeting new people for the first time is always very daunting. Still, just be yourself and they'll love you to bits :D I'm sure you'll fit right in. I don't really watch Formula 1 but, like most sports, I keep abreast of what's happening and I was glued to the last race of last season when Lewis won the World Championship. I don't know if you're a Hamilton fan or not (personally I root for him because I tend to root for most British sports people) but I was pleased when he won the title last year

Cloudygirl

Eimear O'Mahony
04-05-2009, 11:13 AM
I'm not really into F1 so I couldn't say I was a Hamilton fan per se. I just like to see British guys n gals doing well for themselves ... well we have no notable Irish sports people so Britain is the next best thing right?

f1 is a not a sport, it's a circus for arrogant drivers/manufactures. the true f1 was gone when the sponsors entered in mid 70's.

Cloudygirl
04-05-2009, 11:21 AM
It is so funny. I have an old friend Anna who is formula 1 obsessed (she also likes Richie she has good taste) anyway going back to the old days (about 10 years ago) we used to watch F1 at ridiculous times of the morning. We hadn't spoken for ages and ages but she just knew that I hated Hamilton and loved Alonso and Vettel. My taste must be predictable

I find it interesting, I like F1 mainly because it is the motor sport that gets the most coverage (by far) in this country. I love all motor sports though.I like rallying but coverage is crap it is really hit or miss whether i get to catch an event.

I think I just want to drive really really fast.

Eimear O'Mahony
04-05-2009, 11:25 AM
To be honest, the appeal of F1 is something that I just don't see most of the time. Then again, people say that about tennis. It really is each to their own and I usally catch one or two races during the season. The one thing I will say about Hamilton is he's never far away from controversy as are McLaren

isabelle86
04-05-2009, 11:26 AM
differences betweeen Alonso and Hamilton
-alonso started in minardi, hamilton in mclaren
-alonso make renault a winning car, hamilton with the help of alsonso had a winning car
-alonso retired schumacher, hamilton won vs massa of all people
more?
-hamilton ad denis sacked alonso because mclaren could only be the team of hamilton and heidi kokalocainen.

Eimear O'Mahony
04-05-2009, 11:32 AM
Well, like I say I don't know much about Hamilton and his F1 career. I know some Brits aren't happy with him living in Switzerland for tax evasion purposes but look at how many tennis players do it so it's nothing new in sport for people to use Switzerland as a tax haven

Agreed. Schumacher might have made it a bit boring in a Federeresque way but he was just a bloody amazing driver and I love him for that. I think Alonso also is a fantastic driver but he hasn't always had the car or the suppport.

I'm finding it quite interesting in the first 2 races this year because the cars are so different and it shows who actually is a great driver and who is a good driver with a good car.

Vettel at Monza last year was just fantastic.

I was killing myself laughing earlier at the team radio love it that they now televise the feed from the team radios.

"calm down Felipe baby" was so funny. That is even gayer that Richie and the head and shoulders thing.

isabelle86
04-05-2009, 11:46 AM
Massa is in Ferrari because his agent is the son of Jean Todt, Kimi no comment. after last year fiasco Ferrari should think about changing drivers. Barrichello is better than Massa.
Schumacher was boring but the records will stand forever, 7 times f1 champion enough said, he is the nº1 in every record except in number of gp racing. a 7 times champion retired by the youngest f1 champion since the mid 70's and making Benetton/Renault a winning car, at the same time Williams were great, now they are nothing.

Wow, good memory! Spelled perfectly:p

Okay so.. "godver" is short for "godverdomme" which means goddammit... but in Dutch it's worse than in English. And "teringzooi".. how would one translate that. Okay well "zooi" means "mess". And "tering" is the same as tubercolosis. In Holland we have a weird habit of cursing with diseases:p So "tering" is used as an adjective here. Oh and it's a pretty bad curse word so I wouldnt walk around Amsterdam saying that all the time:p:rolls:

And the other thing I said was "godverdomme kutzooi", so the only thing that changes is "tering" into "kut" and kut is I guess the same as the English word "cut".... Any more questions sir?

Yes, especially around the city. Honestly, the history here isn't of the same calibre in Europe as you would expect but City Hall etc. is a fine example of architecture based on the ancient structures such as Corinthian colums etc and it's oh so pretty!

Shopping is good at Chermside and Indooroopilly, DFO if you want to save a bit.

The best places are probably in the city to dine.

there is nothing historical in brisbane  we are pretty boring history wise, we are more for the awesome sights  like the beaches and what not, or moreton island sand dunes + beaches

best place for shopping is easily the queen street mall! or chermside shopping centre if you are on the north side :p
best place to eat im not too sure, the main part of the city has a lot of nice restaurants, and southbank as well, looking over the river :)

I had to do a research report on it for ancient history comparing the styles that and Memorial square.

Oh I'm soooo there Di  Erm ... not really tbh ... its a shit line up but pretty much the best they've got at the minute. Anderson is injured, Scholes is suspended so that just leaves Carrick and Fletch. Then they need Ronaldo up front because Rooney is suspended and Berbatov is injured. Tevez is knackered though god love him. He's flown from South America in the last couple of days. I would have been more inclined to put Giggs up front and leave Ronaldo on the wing

the main part of the city for shopping, and southbank as well
also the beaches north and south of us, or out to moreton island!

lots of theme parks around here too :p

Dave, theme parks:hearts: Which one is the best?

hmm..theres a lot
the main ones are dreamworld and movieworld, they are about 45mins to 1 hour drive out of the centre of brisbane, just before you get to the gold coast

i personally like movieworld more, but they both are so fun with exceptionally thrilling rides!
theres also seaworld which has a lot of animals and some rides

and then water parks theres wet'n'wild which is almost next to movieworld, and white water world which is in front of dreamworld :)

Yup, the goal was a shocker. I think its safe to say the Premiership won't be staying at OT this year. I won't look at the papers this summer if the Scum win it

excuse me! i went to 1 sex show in the red light district and it was disturbing

so you DO like someone from volendam? :p
i will look

yes i saw all the women in the windows
my tour group went there, the sex show was part of the tour
we were walking through the worlds skinniest streets, it was really weird, then all of a sudden there were windows of almost naked women winking and acting suggestively

haha... I always LOVE going to the redlight district... there are so many tourists drooling over the girls:rolls:

oh it was hilarious!
and some of the women in the windows :tape:
they were so revolting, they will never make any money :tape:

Yep, a lot of them look like :o I've rarely seen women there that are pretty. But most are there unvoluntarily so that might explain it.

I loved Amsterdam even the seedy bits although we did stay in what is quite possibly the most disgusting hostel in the world. I would love to go again, one of the most fun holidays I have ever been on even though it pissed down raining for 2 weeks.

Mia,yes my fella likes tennis,he's just happy when my faves are doing well. He plays a dying breed of tennis too, serve and volley when he gets the time(which is not that often). Thats the price he's paying for having a multi-sport fan as his girl:lol: I'm into way more sports than he is. He's always been into tennis and football though:banana:
