Welcome to our TT End of Season Tennis Quiz TT event. Hidalgo (Leo) has had an idea for a TT Game and asked me if I would co:Manage this event with him, and I said that I would be happy to help out.

As this is a fun event - the doubles teams will be picked using random.org

This is not a ranking event - it's just for fun - and you can play in your normal TT tennis event the same week

You can now commit :wavey:

What I think we should do Leo is keep the deadline at Sunday 6pm for 1st round of singles/the first of a two day 1st round in doubles.

Later on Sunday evening we'll work out the results, etc.

Then if we make the 2nd round singles/second day of two day 1st round in doubles deadline 6pm Tuesday, that will give players a 36+ hour window to send.

Yes, anyone else can commit as an ALT.

For this one does it mean it was the world no 1's home tournament, or the player who beat the world no 1's home tournament?

those question are tough, tough to find on the internet. But then again they have to be or everyone would get them all right. Can`t ask someone like who won Wimbledon in 2005?

I think I got most of them, took a while to find them, moreso just brute force searching though lots of possibilities. I only knew 2 of them right away I believe. Took me 2 hours to find the rest, or at least the ones I get right which will probably not be all of them

Not sure if I should PM my partner. Normally you do but normally the answers aren't guarenteed it's just opinion. PMing him my answers might ruin the fun for him(and his opponent if my answers are right and he copies them). The point is to find them yourselve so I guess I won't.

I don't think it is fair with me to play against two guys, seriously. I would have to beat to people to advance... I think the managers should think about something different, after all, it's suppose to matter just my score and my opponents score, not my scores and two other players scores.

I didn't understand the question correctly. I was looking for someone who is the only current active player for his country. The comma in between "active player" and "who" got me wrong.

I agree with Bruno here. You essentially he's only playing against 1 player, but that will be the better player of the 2, so his score would have to be better than both of the other 2, so he has to beat 2 players while other people only has to beat 1 which I don't think is fair to Bruno.

Maybe you could have a tiebreaker question for the other 2. First person to answer correctly advances. If both are around at the time of posting of that question anyway

I think that's unfair to 2 people who got 14/15 questions correct in favor of the one who got 5 over walkover... considering that I'm pretty sure that I just sent 15 correct answers for day 2.

Well played 156mphserve! I have no regret.. 15 good answer, I am impressed. ;)

Considering the fact, I agree with Nixer, I think that it is more interesting if you take into account the results of the two players.. because in other case, it is not a double but a single (I mean, you can win alone against 2 players)..

BrunoBeidacki
11-18-2012, 10:21 PM
Of course it is singles... I never said I would have to beat two guys together, I just said I would have to score more than two other people and that's just not the way it works.

Besides that, Nixer, the question is not how many points you scored more than me, after all, you were playing against Cheeky Chick, not me. I won my match, it doesn't matter how and you didn't win yours.

The fair thing to do would be have a tiebreak separated than tomorrow's picks, but I'm not going to keep arguing about that because this is only a tournament which is suppose to be fun.

AdeyC
11-18-2012, 10:39 PM
Bruno is completely correct here in that he was playing a first round match against ESimp - and he won against ESimp, there is no doubt whatsoever on that.

The first round scores of Nixer/Cheeky Chick only apply to each other in their first round match, and have nothing to do with the second round. If Nixer lost the 1R his 2R picks will not apply for singles because he will be out of the singles event.

It is now early morning in Leo's timezone - so when he's next online, it will be up to him to decide how to sort out how to proceed with the winner of Nixer/Cheeky Chick.

156mphserve
11-18-2012, 10:41 PM
Plus what happened if Cheeky and Nixer both score the same tomorrow, you gonna advance both to the next round depending on whoever scores the most that round getting there?

The essence of TT is that you have to be better than 1 player, and you win. Here Bruno has to beat 2 people, if he's worse than 1, and better than the other he will lose which is not really the way TT is made to work.

I understand that's there's not really a good way to break the tie, but imo you should come up with something independant of tomorrow's questions to determine the winner of Nixer/Cheeky because if tomorrow's questions are used that's not fair to Bruno

Anyway, isn't Nixer vs CC to be decided by using the round 2 questions as a tie break.

Then whoever wins plays round 2 against Bruno.

MTF is your friend(I used MTF to find 3 answers). For that one I went to the challenger forum, and used the search function and searched "3 matches in 1 day" and found the Nottingham thread as the 5th or 6th thread returned. It took some time having to go through the first few and realize they were not right, but when I got to Nottingham I saw a post about people talking about 3 matches in 1 day by Matosevic. Took maybe 20 minutes.

I remembered that happening this year but couldn't remember the player but remembered it was talked about on MTF so that's why I searched here

Yeah but the non south american answer still stands Hidalgo said.

It makes more sense though for it to be back to back tournaments that the player in question has played not the top 2 players as they sometimes play different optional events.

So for instance say Giraldo beat Fed, and Nole this year in RG and Wimbledon he would work even if Fed played Halle, but say if he done it in Cincy and US Open but played Winston Salem inbetween then it doesn't work because he played a tournament inbetween so he didn't beat 1, and 2 in 2 straight tournaments for him.

That's the way the question makes most sense to me

If there are missing picks from anyone, flip a coin and move one of us to that place!!

The opponent is expecting a match, so that gives them one.

4. This tennis player has been qualified for 4 ATP tournaments in a row this year, but always lost in the R1 of MD.

4 ATP tournaments that he tried to enter, right? Not counting challengers in between or weeks not played, for example?

15. This US tennis-player has 17 consecutive defeats in a row on the ATP-level matches
"had" or "has a record of", am I correct?

So 4 weeks in a row of ATP tournaments, or just 4 ATP tournaments in a row for the player (like they might've taken a week off in between tournaments?)

The ATP site is down so I don't have many resources :(

5. This tennis player has the only title in the singles and in the doubles, he won titles in the same event both in the capital of his country.

wording of this is confusing. You mean he has only 1 title in singles, and 1 title in doubles? They are in the same event, that doesn't necessarly mean the same year?

8. This tennis player won his only ATP match in his career and his opponent was former Roland Garros champion.

Can you confirm that this was his only atp match? If he won it then it was either davis cup(which is not technically an ATP match) or he withdrew the next round which seems unlikely but possible. Can you confirm that this was in fact his only atp match?

well. it was ATP tourmament of course. he has 1 victory on ATP-level.

The way that question is worded sounds like he played only 1 atp match in his entire career, 1 win, 0 losses. That's what confused me because ythat's highly unlikely. But he's lost other matches ok, that makes more sense

this former top 30 "unstable" player who beat a top 10 player at a slam this year yet lost to a 500+ player in davis cup, this seems odd, and I can't find it, I've checked all the top 10 losses at slams and none of them have lost in davis cup to a 500+, am I missing something here:confused:

9. This tennis player has won the 8 matches on ATP tournaments, but on the grass only. He has reached SF on the home ATP tournament

I have to ask, does this mean he only won 8 career ATP singles matches and all of them were on grass. Or does it mean he's won 8 ATP singles match on grass? I can't find anyone to fit the former, but I have found 1 player to fit the latter, I don't see how it's possible to be the first one though that's he way it seems to me when I read it

Won their ATP title? Home tournament meaning country or hometown?

And for #1, 9 TBs in MD or MD+QD?
