- A little bit off-topic - According to Wikipedia:

"Murray has an estimated wealth of £24m, about half of this (£12.6m) he has spent on making other people as miserable as he is by hiring fellow dour Scots to shoot them on the arse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Murray#Endorsements_and_equipment), and tell them how ugly they are (...)[145]" :haha:

brithater
09-11-2012, 02:48 AM
In the modern game he will win every slam at least once. Novak is probably done for a while. That Ausie open final took too much out of him and he has still not recovered. I dont think Nadal has either to be honest. That was just a brutal match.

I just hope Nadal comes back. I am not a huge fan but I missed the Nadal intensity this tournament.

Honestly this was just perfect for Murray

Nadal didnt show up
Federer choked up
Novak is still tired like he has been all year = Not hungry right now
Delpos career reboot is not quite there yet
Andy.....Hungry and confident after a gold medal win and open draw

His biggest threat was Berdych ....who I thought would take him out. Thomas will be interesting to watch next year. He is so very close to believing in his ability.

I give credit to Andy though. He really has been the most improved this year starting with Aussie Open semis. He has the game to win majors now. His forehand belongs in the top 10 now and he is moving well enough.

I predict he will win 1-2 slams next year unless someone like Berdych has a break through at a major.

I think he'll go on to get 3-4 in total now. 1 Wimbledon and 1-2 more at the Australian/US Opens.

Djokovic and Murray are probably going to be the 2 top contenders for the Aussie Open next year. It's a grinders paradise and Nadal won't be 100%.

australian open is a weird slam for nadal

can't put my finger on why

if i had to guess, i'd say it because he's a slow starter

one thing nadal must do next year however, if he's serious about getting his game back, is to play the south american clay swing

of course, he's a retard when it comes to scheduling, so he won't, but he really should

So Andy Murray hasn't won a slam in the past 5 minutes. Will he ever manage to win another?

Who cares? The other recent 1 slam wonders I can think of (Ferrero, Moya, Gaudio, Johansson, Roddick*, JMDP) have done pretty much sod all outside of their 1 golden moment, where as Murray has already proved he is not there by luck alone as this was his 5th crack at it. Hence I don't think anyone can realistically say this was just a lucky tournament.

I don't think Andy is going to win loads of slams purely because the competition is too tough and his style of play is insanely physically demanding. However, I do think he will win another and assuming he stays free of major injuries he will probably have 4 or 5 by the time he retires.

*with the exception of Roddick, who IMO has also proved he was not just a lucky 1 hit wonder... if it wasn't for Federer he would be a 4 or 5 time Wimbledon champ to add to that 1 USO win.

Congrats to Andy for finally getting the monkey of his back. However for another major triumph, the stars have to align significantly.Pathetic baseline game from Andy in the first two sets, wouldnt pull the trigger if his life was on the line.Such a brand of pushing wont get him anywhere against a fit Fedal and a hungry Djokovic, who can adapt to windy conditions.I really hope that he changes the way he approaches crucial points.

murray is not close to the throne and yet needs to defend his throne once he ascended. He is far far away from the real pressure. Djokovic already felt it this yr.

One of the worst and less deserved slam winners by quality of play since Johanson.

Only time Murray can win a GS:

Opponent retires in final

Opponent forfeits before match and hence Mugaray wins by walkover

Everyone protests at AO because of the prize money. Murray, desperate for slams, is the only guy that turns up and collects his slam without even stepping foot on court

Extreme winds infuriating his opponent.

Only ways he can ever win a slam.

Luckily for him option 4 occured yesterday.

Nole doesnt suck but Mugray is less scared from him then from Fedal. If any1 of those was against him tonight bagels would be flying. Djokovic was so close to turn this around but stamina didnt let him, he did that before but when opponent constantly makes reallies long and push its matter of time u will get tired, its Nole fault for playing like crap 2 sets or he would finish this earlier.

He won't be a one slam wonder.

The first is always the hardest, he's proved that. He's got over the hill and he can now play his best tennis with not as much pressure by far. He knows what it takes to win a slam final. He's now won two five set finals against Federer and Djokovic, Nadal is the next test for Murray and I don't have any doubt he can overcome that challenge. I honestly think he'll win five or six slams in his career.

They're both not great with the wind though. If Nadull had been playing either it woulda been 6-1 6-2 6-1 beatdown. Both of them were pushing the ball and it was difficult to play controlled offence for a lot of it.

As I said the AO semi pissed over it quality-wise although I preferred this result. :)

The scary thing is that had he been allowed to finish his SF on Saturday, Ferrer could have very well won this Slam. In the heavy wind, it's all about who can keep the ball in play the longer, and only Nadal beats Ferrer in that department.

Of course you'd expect unlimited amounts of choking from Ferrer in a Slam final, but he does play far better in the heavy wind than Murray for sure.

Nadal would spin and moonball eather to death with that wind. But again Mandy has ability to push and slice very good and keep ball in copurt, while Joker looks like chased by dogs with his movement. Anyways yes AO semi was best match of year by far.
