Most consecutive hardcourt GS wins in a row

US Open Facebook page :

"Can Novak recover from his slow start to win his record-setting 27th hardcourt grand slam match in a row?"

Yes, Djokovic won AO 2011, USO 2011, AO 2012 plus 6 matches here - what makes number of 27.

But how is it record setting ?

Federer won USO 2005, AO 2006, USO 2006, AO 2007, USO 2007 and lost in AO 2008 (SF) - what is 40 consecutive wins.

Did I miss something ?

Strange mistake, you'd expect people from the USO to have heard of Federer.

Why not? Are you willing to bet against him? He needs to beat Murray tommorow, Win AO 2013 and get to a SF(or F to break) in the USO 2013. Not easy, but not 'no way that will happen'.

Strong era my foot. Nole backers know full well they're never going to get the numbers on their side so they use the argument already perfected by Nadal backers. They could sue you for copyright infringement.

Ha at strong era. Who has Novak beaten so far? Only HC player of note was Del Potro. Other than that it was a cake walk draw. No way it was harder than Federer's draws either from US Open 05 onwards. Novak will easily be (and is already) the 2nd best hard courter of his era (Fed's HC credentials are too high for him to get there just yet) and definitely the current best hardcourter. That should be enough rather than trying to denigrate Fed's achievements. Fed has also been great on indoor and outdoor HC - Novak so far has not dominated indoor - remains to be seen if he will.

Do think Murray and Del Po will be offering competition going forward though and Murray does have a chance tomorrow. Their HC record is only 6-5 in Novak's favour.

Strong era with 30 y.o. Ferrer in the semis and daddy Fed at 31 y.o. #1

Noles run is a joke he!he! He played one dimension nobodies in this weak era.
Lorenzo, dutra silver , injured delpo . USTA.
A big asterisk next to this run.

All Federer records are from BEFORE Djokovic, Nadal and Murray started playing tennis.

Why Federer doesnt have any records at time while these 3 played ?

Because, before that, we had weak era of tennis, where Federer didnt have any opposition.

Nadal's 2010 US Open draw?I rest my case honey

He played Novak in the final. Apparently the greatest Hardcourt player ever.

Plus I've not said Nadal's one of the best HC players ever or had to go through a tough draw to win all his slams - the US Open draw opened up by Murray losing (though given his form that tournament and his record against Murray he'd have won anyway). Nadal's run at the USO 2010 has nothing to do with whether Nole's streak is more impressive than Fed's - it's not.

And one more thing, stop calling me honey. It's 2012.

Federer's HC slam record INCLUDES his win against Novak in the final. Pretty sure Novak was playing tennis then...

And all Nole's future victories will have an asterisk on them because it will be past his master Roddick's retirement:sad:

federer has two separate hard court streaks, both records i believe

also, people crying about weak draws and facing mugs, never in doubt

you beat who is in front of you

is agassi's career grand slam written off because he faced medvedev in the 1999 french open final? no

is sampras' 1997 wimbledon, during which he held serve 116 times out of 118 games for his best sustained tournament performance, written off because the highest ranked player wasn't in the top 10? no

is nadal's french open in 2010 written off because he didn't face a single top 10 player the whole tournament except for in the final? no

etc

One of the funniest posts I have ever read in MTF. :haha::haha::haha: What the... :superlol: Seriously buddy.. you should've known at least a little bit about Tennis before posting. Seems that you only know that Federer, Djokovic, Nadal and Murray play Tennis. I think you should find some place where you can learn the history of Tennis.

Djokovic won't win as many HC slams as Federer.

MAYBE he will win as many HC slams as Sampras, 7( but the other way around, 5 AOs and 2 USOs).
