Julien's 30, but this year he's had both his career high in singles and an Olympic Bronze medal in doubles with Gasquet, having never won a title in singles and never won a doubles title above the masters level.

That's pretty sad tbh. I thought the Olympics were supposed to showcase a sport's best?

It showcases those who win! Benneteau and Gasquet played good doubles every match and before winning today, they beat two other very good teams.

But do admit Olympic doubles is a bit messed up because many of the top doubles teams are from different countries and can't play together in Olympics.

Anyway Benneteau and Gasquet deserved the win today. Allez Team france! And absolutely love how happy Bennteau was!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I amended that in the opening post.

The amendment

This thread fell flat on its arse.

But, it is a bit strange that Benneteau hasn't won at least one singles title. Wasn't he crying after he lost to Isner in Winston-Salem of all places?

Today I noticed he's got grey hair already. The end is coming I guess.

Well, all the best were competing. Often playing for one's country, especially in the Olympics, inspires players to play above their usual level. Beneteau has done very well in Davis Cup doubles too. Give the guy the credit he deserves.

YES. I felt so sorry for him as he really played well, but John's serve bailed him out. I am very happy that he and Gasquet won the Bronze and that Tsonga and Llodra won the Silver. It is a shame that doubles is ignored by TV at the Slams, as it is very exciting and so different from singles.
