Congrats Gilles :worship:

Served well and played somewhat aggressively again. Too many easy errors from Dimitrov.

Dimitrov can't expect to beat many steady opponents standing that far back.

Well done Gilles :)

He was too passive and made really shit junior errors. Time to grow up Dimugtrov :o

simon played steady, served well for most part and got the breaks when he needed them. Dimitrov needs to play an aggressive but cleaner game to expect to win against these guys.

I really wanted to watch this but ended up watching gymnastics. What happened to Dimi? Anyways good for Gilles.

Grigor was an UE machine today. Ironically, his best points came at 6:3 5:3 40:0 - three incredible points in a row. Besides that, pretty boring match.

Hey, what did you expect ?

Simon is still a top-15 player while Dimitrov hasn't entered top-50 or ever won a tournament. Logical result, no shame for Grisha to lose here.

I hoped he'd made more of match of this- this seem pretty routine for Gilles who hasn't been his sharp self lately.

Congrats to Simon. I just have to say how disappointed I am with all of these 'youngsters'. They just can not break through and it's pathetic.

NID, Dimitrov is not consistent enough yet to beat someone whose second name is Consistency.

It's not about the result. He was so, so poor. The FH was so off, I could barely watch the match . At least when RF's was off in his prime, he tried to put the ball in the court. Dimitrov just wants to slap winners all the time and instead gets slapped by the opposition .

I was at this match and Dimitov was diappointing. It was really his 1st serve that let him down most and against a player like Simon, he really needs to be getting a lot of free points on serve and being in control of the rallies. Instead he was giving Simon too many looks at his 2nd serve and Simon was happy to take advantage. Grigor was also bothered by a few very bad line calls which made him lose concentration at the start of the 2nd set and he dropped serve. He needs to keep his focus in these situations because that lapse cost him the match.

The frustrating thing was that towards the end of the 2nd set, he found his serve again and not only held easily but started putting pressure on Simon's serve.

You do have a point. Fed has lost to Simon as many times as he's beaten him.

No worries Dimtards. Losing to Simon won't ruin his GOAT credentials. Just ask the Fedtards.

Hope the Simple One can make SF.

This.

I'm disapointed ofc, but he had one of those days when nothing works, your position on the court is wrong, everything goes bad.
Same as the match against Ferru in the State some time ago.

One of those days. Still it is Gilles Simon and he doesn't cut you any slack, so that's that.

This. Just because he doesn't play an exciting game, doesn't make him a bad player. Simon gets way too little respect on MTF. Dimitrov has imo a nicer game to watch, but is nowhere near as steady. This will be the result 9/10 times. No surprise here, better player won.

At this point in time, Gilles is clearly a better player than Dimi, even on grass. This result is expected.
