Stan has always been a thorny opponent for Andy in the past. This is only the second of Murray's seven wins over him that didn't go to a deciding set.

Seemed like Federer watching over Stan didn't have a positive effect. His worship for Roger is as bad as Team Spain/Monaco's for Nadal.

Good stuff for Murray but Wawrinka was such a mug at times.

No Slumping from Murray, but a walking bye helps..

Wawa  Murray (except the serve) was average at best and he still failed to make an impression.

Murray wasn't great, but Wawrinka was worse :help:

Good win for Murray. Glad to see he seems to have recovered from the Wimby final so quickly.
Stan, I think it's time to hit the want-ads for a proper coach asap.

No slump from Murray it seems. Djoke is not making the final here, IF he gets to the semis.

Muzz did what he had to do, good to get past an opponent who's been tough for him in the past with minimal fuss. Was no doubt helped by Stan freezing in front of daddy Roger though.

Served well and seemingly no post Wimby hangover, good signs.

LOL at Wawrinka being the Swiss flag bearer.

That said, poor from Wawa from the bit that I saw. Murray was solid and importantly, doesnt seem to have the usual post-slam final defeat slump.

Solid win for Murray but wow... Stan must be feel pretty bad right now.

Decent from Andy, but Stan was pretty below par. 44% first serves and the backhand was misfiring at times. He didn't give a great account of himself.

Stan saving himself for the doubles.

Good. Though Murray looked like he didn't give a toss losing his doubles match which was not vey endearing.

I've said it before: so much for Wawrinka deserting his family to concentrate on his tennis!

Andy did, the problem was Jamie's WTA serve got punished for being a WTA serve.

Andy did everything he could. Jamie was fucking horrendous.

dont think he watched doubles

Muzza was fired up there and the crowd were brilliant

Jamie Muzza just has no business playing tennis anymore

Did you watch the doubles match? What on earth gave you that idea?

I thought Andy looked pumped and was playing well.

I was at the match and the atmosphere was electric! Murray played great apart from that game where he threw in a couple of double faults and the crowd absolutely worshiped him. It was more like a Davis Cup match than the 1st round of a tournament. He seems to have gained a lot of fans since Wimbledon and the massive crowd support he will get this week could really take him through some tough matches here. I'm not a Murray fan but it was a lot fun being on Centre Court today watching him play. Wawrinka was hopeless btw and from 3-3 in the 1st set, never looked like he had a chance of turning the match around.

Andy should have played with Marray ( probably too late after Wimby to change but still) Jamie could probably fit in well if he dons a wig and plays doubles in Laura Robson's place

Always good when Wanka gets slapped.

Another hell draw for Muzza. Not sure he'll make it through this time.

Comfortable win against an opponent that was potentially tricky. Wawrinka wasn't very good but a good victory regardless.

The only way Stan was winning this match was if Andy went into a post-final slump.

No evidence of that. Stan's forehand was really bad today.

What a mug that Stan is. Unreal, he wasted his time bearing flag thinking he would represent his country well for the Olympics and he crashes out in the first round. It was as a predictable as flies attracted to a night lamp.

I mean we all knew who was going to win. It wasnt even a question, it was formality. I betcha ya when Mugray saw the opening draw for his matches, he laughed his ass all the way to bank and probably made some celebration love with his gf thinking he got the 1st round in the bag. He was that confident. Unreal. Mugwrinka, go back to Switzerland and retire, you mug.

Andy has struggled against Wawrinka in the past. The difference is, Andy has got better and Stan has got worse.

He was tired after the flag bearing ceremony, so this awful loss doesn't count IMO.
