First Olympic upset! R1: Darcis def. Berdych 6-4 6-4

Darcis looked much better than Berdych all day long. Berdych just couldn't get his game going and his serve was completely AWOL today. Even his break at 5-3 Darcis was purely a gift from Darcis...

Darcis looked like everything was working for him. Many serves for easy points, BH DTLs, lobs, drop shots, it was all going in!

Berdych needs to check out what he did about 2 months ago that made him go from a solid top 10 to a useless top 100 at best :/

lol @ Tomas for frowning the same way after the match as he did when Gulbis defeated him in Wimby

Amazing display of slicing and mixing up by Steve :worship: Won the match with a much better grass court tennis there.

What a poor grass court season for Berdych.

But Gulbis and Darcis can be deadly when on. They don't have two titles each for nothing.

Mark Lenders surely jinxed Berdych. Berdych was absent from this match and Birdbrain was there instead. Birdbrain was really slipping and sliding all over the court, it was funny to watch at times, I almost feel sorry for the guy though .

Berdych mugged all my vcash with this idiotic loss.

Berdych was absolutely useless. Spent more time on his bum than on his feet.

Darcis' slices were excellent throughout, stopping Berdych from flattening out the ball and making him pull the trigger on unlikely balls.

Rihanna playing during the interval now, my goodness.

I still can't get over this result. Tomas sure doesn't make it easy to support him :o

He hasn't won a set on tour since late May, since he took the second set against Del Potro in Paris. 7 sets lost in a row; he better bounce back during the American hardcourt season or even WTF qualification will be in jeapordy.

Nah, he took a set off Haas at Halle. Let's see; 5-7, 6-7, 6-7, 6-7, 4-6, 4-6. So he's lost 6 sets in a row on grass :o

He'll be fine by hard court IMO. Sure his form might be shit, but at least no more slipping from him probably

Yeah, forgot about Halle altogether. Doesn't make it any better.

Losing to on-fire Gulbis is understandable, but Darcis is a weaponless mug if I ever saw one, there are no excuses.

Darcis isn't an overly terrible player. He has some weapons and he's got an ATP title under his belt, but he's not a special player, consistency-wise or game-wise. He was possessed by Dolgopolov today, slicing to Berdych's feet and exposing his lacktastical footwork on the grass even more. That's too bad I guess.

Yeah, Berdych's movement was terrible today, he slipped like 10 times. You really have to wonder how much he really trained for this event; not being adapted to the surface is kind of baffling.

Has struggled since the Madrid Final, don't know what's going on with him.

Today he struggled with his movement badly but the other matches were close and he didn`t win the big points.Against Del Potro at the French he had to play a match over 2 days and lost a close 4 setter, another close match against Haas at Halle which he lost 7-5 in the third and then lost 3 tiebreakers against Gulbis.
It`s not that he has played horrible throughout but a couple of points here and there against him made the difference.
That`s how it can go in tennis sometimes,u play decent but can`t make a difference in the match and find yourself in a close situation and then things don`t go your way
