Roddick was losing his head in the last set when he couldn't break Isner after having 4 BPs but eventually he got it done. He threw his racquet at the net when he missed a 2nd serve return

But pretty good stuff for Dick, he will have good chances against Muller.

And well what to say about Isner? He served well

I'll miss him when he's gone. The only active American slam winner

What a match :worship:

It showed what American hardcourt is all about. Good serving, good excitement, good crowds.

Hey, I heard some NFL teams need a quarterback, Andy should try out.

This match had everything. Poor play, awesome play, foot faults, over-rules, drama. As advertised.

Won't be a gimme against muller but andy should win it.

I didn't see the first set but second and third were wildly entertaining (and I don't particularly like bomb-fests). I'd have been ticked if I'd lost a set after only losing four points on my own serve like Andy did.

Crappy foot-fault call (I didn't notice any TV-replay to confirm or deny) in the Isner service game prior to his final one. But Andy should have gotten a warning for the racquet toss. Guess the chair was giving a little leeway since John took too long to change his socks. LOL. Stupid TV though, putting a clock on that adventure. Plenty of other guys on tour waste way more than that (over the course of the match) just preparing to serve.

Still, I thought both guys served well, Roddick had just a bit better groundies and net play. Am looking forward to seeing the two of them in doubs at the Olympics.

Isner's outrageous 26 aces couldn't stop the grinding Ducky machine. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-dance005.gif

Win the title, Andy. :rocker2:

Good for Andy. Hope he takes the title. But what he really needs to do is go get a medal. Any type will do.

I was so sure Andy was going to lose the match after what happened in the 4-3* game on those BPs. That might be the first time I've seen a player lose it over an opponent being called for a footfall - it was a rare return that Roddick tagged. In the last few years, situations like that are exactly when you know Roddick is going to lose. That he got his head back together and won the last two games comfortably is a great sign.

That said, how funny is it to realize this final will be promoted as "when Andy lost his mojo"?

Andy still not very graceful on court, but he was playing pretty smart, body serves, slicing low to Izzy's forhand, moving him around as much as possible, going low. Isner was...Isner.

Old balls > New balls.

Seriously, what's up with the old balls? If it's not Ferrer scooping up the titles, we have Hewitt in finals, Haasi winning, Roddick getting on the board and Federer leading with 5 titles.

Anyone notice the wry smile on one of the linesmen after the footfault was called?

"Ohhh you sly bastard"

Old balls > New balls.Eh, 30 must be the new 40. :p

As someone who's closer to 50 than 40, I like it.

what was Roddick complaining about the foot fault call? I couldn't hear

He said he's watched isner play for 6 years and never get called for a foot fault before.

so basically he was complaining for a decision in his favour?

Things got pretty exciting towards the end of the 2nd and 3rd set but Andy, thanks to Isner being Isner lol, came through. Though Andy needs to play more calm but I suppose he's not going to change his ways. Congrats Andy.

Good win for Roddick. Like the strategy, work over the two hander and serve into the body on big points. Bet we see some more of that against the big guy..
