Maybe you're wondering about the progress of regrowing the grass. Here it is, from Wimby's groundsman's Twitter page:

It looks very nice and they have 8 more days to improve it...

It was obviously grown somewhere else and transplanted...

Question 1 : Will WADA test if grass doped ?
Question 2 : Is this still natural grass ?

Answer : As long as it is quick and low-bouncing we do not want any test on this doping. :)

It was obviously grown somewhere else and transplanted...

“We’ve been reseeding as we go along,” Seaward explained. “We’ve been using pre-germinated seeds on the 12 courts that will be used for matches and the seven practice courts. They’re coming along fine.”

Grass is just like they promised - fresh, 1st week grass. Background purple is horrible color though, even Chinese had lot better blue in Beijing. I have to watch it in black and white probably - I still have this possibility to turn out colors in my TV.Maybe it is even better , gives me kinda 80-ies look, when I watched Edberg, Becker and others in black and white ...

It was obviously grown somewhere else and transplanted...That somewhere being across the little pond.

Yes, the Olympic lawn of Wimbledon is mainly high bio-tech patented Dutch grass (http://uk.reuters.com/article/2012/06/26/tennis-wimbledon-olympics-idUKL3E8HQ4G220120626)* that is cultivated in Holland and then shipped/processed and transplanted into the surface at the all England club.

* = no, not the kind of grass some of you may have encountered in Amsterdam

I'm working there at the moment. Not with the grounds staff but they have been working tirelessly. There's so much to change on site, it almost looks unrecognisable now. So many Olympics logos around. And all the food stands have changed etc. The shops have torn down all the Ralph Lauren ads and are now filling them with Adidas stuff. Exciting times.

Thank god for the roof :yeah: They'll have to do away with the 11 p.m curfew if they are to complete all the matches on time. It would be embarrassing if the closing ceremony had to be delayed due to tennis holding things up :o

yes  but the closing ceremony is one week later, the constraint is more about Toronto ;)

I hope they won't have too much rain in the beginning of the tournament because that's the moment when they'll really need to go fast without the roof.
