Russell's returning strategy in this match was terrible. He was staying inside the baseline on Andy's first serves. Don't know who gave him that advice, but that's where he really lost the match as he always has to work for his service games.

Roddick is the real vulture these days. Pics should learn from him.

Roddick is one of the few (in comparison to other MTF members' standards) players I'd actually label as a clown, for what he did to his own playing style which worked. Truly mind boggling.

Definition of a tennis clown is either a) a choker one who can't handle big moments and folds under the pressure or b) someone who isn't truly committed to tennis...lacking work ethic or drive.

Roddick has clearly shown he is neither a) nor b).

Plus you need actual court craft to adapt decently from a power game. Roddick has none unfortunately.

It had absolutely nothing to do with shoulder issues. He was still bombing serves in 2005, playing passively, as well as 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and on and on... :confused:

Sorry, I was unaware that MTF had defined the word "clown".
