Set 1: Paire manhandled Tomug with something like 20/3 W/UE and with a FS% of 15-20% :haha:

Set 2: Paire missed about 30% of the time which got Tomug to 4 games.

Benoit can't concentrate for more than 20 minutes... This match should have been 6-0 6-1. But oh well, a win is a win I guess.

Paire's 1st serve percentage in the 1st set was 19% (he got 3 1st serves in) and he still bageled him! Crazy match. I only saw the end of the 2nd set and the quality didn't look that great from either player.

Paire would have lost that 2nd set to 80% of the Top 150 players, he should feel really relieved.

Paire played as usual. He hit good winner and terrible UEs.
Tomic played so badly:o

Slade

Yes Paire had some wild misses in the 2nd set at crucial moments. Most decent players would have capitalised on that and won the 2nd.

Tomic is a claycourt clown, I cant see why he is playing on claycourts this time of the season, what is he trying to achieve?

I feel a bit sorry for Tomic. He can be a brat sometimes and his game is a bit boring to watch but he's not as bad as some people on here make out. He looked desperate to leave the court by the end of the match.

He's a cocky so-so maybe these beatings will bring him back to earth a little bit. He is young though so I'm more forgiving, hopefully he learns from his mistakes.

your kidding right? the kid just recently admitted that he hasnt been putting in as much work as he should be because his game should be getting him to quarterfinals and semi finals

the kids ego is massive for someone that has done so little

and thats just one of the gems he's spit out

I never said he was perfect and I'm not even a fan. I just feel a little bad because he looks miserable on the court. The quote you gave may have been a stupid thing to say but he's a kid so you can forgive him for that. At the end of the day, he's a lot less of a dick that Hewitt was at the same age although he got a pass because he was winning big matches.

He is one of those cases where he needs to leave the father behind. His personal life seems to be unstable and it even spills over to the court in some instances (bernie telling security to get rid of his dad in some tournament).

Don't think he will be at peace until he finally is on his own and training without the aid of his dad.

i dont feel bad for him at all. I was starting to warm up to him actually until he said that. The fact that he so often looks ready to leave the court before the match is over unless he's winning is another turn off.

and you cant use the fact that he's a kid as an excuse for everything he says.Being a kid isnt an excuse in this situation

It's not "getting a pass" for Hewitt because he won big matches. If two people adamantly say they should be getting to the semifinals, and one of them loses in R1 all the time, while the other actually gets to semi finals and better, I hope you understand why there'll be a difference in perception of the players. People didn't give Hewitt a pass because he won big matches; Hewitt lived up to his words so there wasn't any excuses to be made.

I think you're a bit confused here. I never claimed Hewitt made similar remarks to the one Tomic made but was given a pass because he lived up to his bragging. I was saying Hewitt was a far bigger dick than Tomic at the same age for so many other reasons. This is the guy who tried to sue the ATP because he didn't want to give interviews before a match.

With results like this, Tomic won't get any more fans, only more haters.

I really don't know where he's heading. Treats ATP 250 like a superstar with several slams. Even Federer puts more effort into these events. Doesn't wanna train hard enough. Lacks passion and heart.

A unique player, that's for sure. Would love to know how he developes and where he'll be in 2015...

No.1? Let's see him first win a title or something, he's nowhere near top 10, let alone no.1 :)

Might as well give the WC to Marko

Cannot believe I'm agreeing but Marko did just win a Futures event on clay.

I also have to question Tomic's scheduling. Why is he playing these 250 European clay tournaments in July when he clearly dislikes the surface? If he wanted to play before the Olympics, he should have done Newport and/or Atlanta instead.

he's in a learning process. it's good that at this age he's playing more and more on claycourts so hopefully in 5 years time he won't be a claycourt clown anymore.

federer wasn't as calm and relaxed when he was 20 either. you don't know how much effort tomic puts into his tennis

i dont think it was a fluke, hes talented, there is no questioning that

the problem is, by his own admission that he doesnt work as hard as he should. My question is if that he knows he should be working harder why isnt he?

I've been saying for a long time to watch out for Paire and soon he will storm the rankings.
