Looks like he is good on clay like probably every South American guy. Last week he won a Challenger in Panama without losing a set, but I don't know if he will be OK after playing all week long and then traveling all the way to Sweden :) Grigor is the favourite and I hope he will take advantage of the fact that for once he is seeded :D

Grigor is still not on the OOP of Tuesday, Panama city is really very very very far from Sweden........
I still remember how Sydney treated Grigor this January, Swedish is so kind.

Anyone know when they are going to start broadcasting matches from Bastad? I checked Livescorehunter and there are no feeds from this tournament today.

I don't understand how an ATP tournament in Sweden can't provide live feeds for matches but challengers in Scheveningen and Bogota can.

He played great today. I was very impressed with his 2nd serve although his 1st serve could have been better. His backhand drive was on fire and his backhand slice has developed into a very effective shot.

Good win and it's nice to see him playing with confidence, beating these types of players and making it into the later stages of tournaments.

Answering fan question.

Our press hostess Louise asked some of your questions to Grigor Dimitrov after his game.

Who is your best friend in the ATP World Tour?
- I like to hang around with Dimitry Tursonov.

Are you afraid of any animals?
-None, I like animals.

Which taste of lollipop do you like the best?
-Lemon

Which player would you like to play doubbles with?
-Lindstedt

There you go Micki Luo, Chantal Lu =)

 So same old best friend  He's very loyal guy, isn't he? Same old friend, same old girlfriend. But it's good that he's not loyal to his double partners 'cos together they have been awful.

Great match from Grigor. He won 82% of points on 2nd serve and I'm not surprised, it was kicking up around Ramos' head. His backhand is on fire at the moment and it's great to see his fighting spirit. Every time today and yesterday he was down a break, he has broken right back. The point he finished on was beautiful to watch and I loved his reaction at the end.

On this form, he can beat Ferrer or Robredo

Surprising to see him do so well on second serve, and he seems to be focused. Hopefully he can mix it up enough to make Ferrer think about how to play him. He's got a good chance if he serves well and keeps the unforced errors to a minimum. Great to seem him develop in front of our eyes...you can tell he's becoming more comfortable being on the tour. Good Luck tomorrow!

I saw the second set and thought that he played very well. He just couldn't convert one of the breakpoints he had, but I think that will change ery soon. He is returning the ball much better and he is starting to have more confidence against the higher ranked players. He's still a work in progress, but he is not far away from beating someone like Ferrer. In the end I think that he didn't feel like he was supposed to win this match, but that will change in the next year. He's making good strides and is becoming more consistent off the ground. As soon as he consistently has good depth on his topspin backhand, especially cross court, he will be very successful.

Grisha! :)
I am really glad he has gather himself together in the middle of second set! Was very off, struggling to put a serve in, but managed to hold few times even when games went to deuce! Last year Grigor would have lost this match 6-3 6-1 something! well done! Benny helped a lot tanking the 3rd set when got a break down, though, but I'll take that!
Brilliant play to get the break in the 2nd and cold head and no nerves to serve it out!
Good luck next round, Grisha!

What a match! Really pleased with the way he played overall and especially with the way he turned it around in the 2nd set. That's what he needs to do to become a top player. He served 9 aces and won 79% of points on 1st serve but he will need to get more of those in if he wants to progress here.

The win takes him up to 58 in the live rankings but more importantly, will be good for his confidence.

He plays Brown next who is in good form at the moment. Grigor should be able to win it though.

I would expect Grigor to win the next match but Brown is playing well at the moment and has a dangerous serve so we can't take it for granted.

Grigor won the 1st set 7-6. He didn't play that well but he raised his game in the tie-break to take it. Brown's 1st serve is difficult to read but once they got into baseline rallies, Grigor was usually the better player.

Good win for Grisha! I left the office end of second set hoping that I will at least get to see the end of 3rd but he finished it quickly :)
The key was winning the 1 set tiebreak! That was mentally challenging!
Good luck in the QF! He is closer to top 50 :)

Very happy he won today, especially the way he turned the match around in the 3rd set. Winning the first 12 points shows how focused he was. He's hitting the ball well but his 1st serve will need to be more consistent, especially when he's back on grass for the Olympics.

Up to 55 in the live rankings and he has a very good chance against Kubot.

He's the first match on Centre tomorrow at 11am.

He had this to say about today's match “It was a funny match,” said Dimitrov. “He is a very tricky player. It was a great win for me. Conditions were tough and everything went in a smooth way. I am starting to feel I am playing well on all surfaces now. It’s coming together.

if you only watch Dimitrov from the side, his shots are exactly like Federer's. I thought it was only a hype because of the one-handed backhand but he really resembles RF. I hope he achieves 10% of what RF has done.

Good to see him win a match like this easily. He's come a long way in the last few months and finally seems to have the mental strength and maturity to match his obvious talent. Kubot only managed to win 2 points on 2nd serve which shows how dominant Grigor was in rallies. Can't wait to watch his SF tomorrow.

He played very well today, a lot less errors than his previous round. Kubot didn't have a chance to get into the match. Only shaky moment when he served for the 1st set but after that everything went in.

I won't be able to watch tomorrow. It looks like he'll play Bellucci, a real clay-court talent with a lot heavier serve and groundstrokes. He'll have a chance when Bellucci goes walk about :) in the middle of the match.

Grigor's comment after the win over Kubot:

"I'm happy I made it in two sets today," said Dimitrov. "It's great to play my third semi-final in a few weeks. It's always difficult to make the next step, but I hope that I can win tomorrow and be in the final on Sunday."

Good win for Grigor - his confidence is growing, and I have the feeling that the third time's a charm. Bellucci is a tough clay-courter, and I think it'll be a tight match, but I think he'll pull this one out. Something like 6-4 or 7-5 in the third is a definite possibility. This reminds me a bit of Del Potro in '08 when he won four tournaments in a row...

same weakness though, he responses well when a break down. but somehow missed opportunities are distracting him more and so are the rain delays.
So he will either implode and lose the second set easily or will gather himself even more motivated and will play till the last point is called. IMO the longer the rain delay, the better for Grigor.

It's all him. There is no one else to blame.

I hope he sees BOTH the positive and negative from this tournament and realize that he clearly has what it takes to be a top player, but he, himself, is the one blocking the entrance to the next level.

I'm happy with the way he played apart from the tie-breaks where he lost focus and his level dropped. He rallied well against an experienced claycourter, hit some stunning winners and was always looking to be aggressive. His backhand which was too inconsistent in the past has really developed into a big weapon.

His 1st serve needs a bit of fine-tuning for grass as it doesn't seem reliable enough at the moment but he should go to the Olympics with a lot of confidence in his game. He just looks a far more complete player than he did a couple of months ago and it feels like he is learning with each match. I really hope I get to see him next week.

Too many unforced errors from Grigor, and Bellucci played well. It was one of those matches that could have gone either way. He's definitely on the right track - looking forward to the Olympics!
