Because he doesn't play any other tournaments than Wimbledon on grass, here is the thread.

He posted this on his facebook this afternoon:

He's unlucky with the draw :o : Kenny De Schepper who is a good grass court player ;) http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/scores/draws/qs/qsdraw.pdf

Arno didn't played on grass while Kenny has qualified for the Queen's and last year was qualified in Wimbledon MD. To be honnest chances are small  Arno has been seeds in all his GS qualifying draw lately but not a great luck. Pity well I know the match is not yet played but tough opponent while bad players are in the draw

Let's hope Llodra'a baby girl is not coming too soon and allowed them to play doubles.

Yes. it will be very tough match.
But whoever wins it should enter in the MD.

That's one of the toughest draw for a seed  When he lost to Dancevic this one qualified the same for Phau so

In Roehampton that's not really grass so more tough. Arno will need a bit of luck I think ;) cos Kenny can hold easily. They are fourth on court tomorrow

Three breaks in a row. Arnaud is losing 3-4, but has 40-40 on De Schepper's serve after 40-0.

Fat Camel

6-7 (5-7)...
Third set. De Schepper is looking worse on serve than in the first set, so Arnaud will definitely have his chances to break. But on the other head he is also struggling on serve. I'd say 60/40 for Arnaud because of experience and desire.

Arno broke back when Kenny was serving for the set but second tie-break went finally to the tallest frenchie. All the efforts to come back in that set and in the tie-break for nothing  We are in a third set that's not great and Kenny is serving first. Arno has not played since many days Kenny is more 60/40 imo

Arno had his chances in that second set but as you said he's not safe on serve and now he will feel pressure each time. Kenny need one break while Arno needs two :p

He had mostly easy holds and he has a deuce game on Kenny's serve at the beggining of the set and 30all at 2-2 deuceX2 at 3-3 to be broken at *3-4. De Schepper serves for the match now that's always the same story against big servers you are near them but they take you away

Hopefully he's not too much sad but it was close today so he must be :o.

Now wait and see for doubles still no news about baby Llodra  Arno will surely came back in France. No idea if it was his last match ? If I was him I would not played US qualies as he has lost in the first round of all GS qualies he played since 2009  Not very useful except to get some time in NY.

Yeah, we can't blame a draw in Arnaud's case. In GS in 10's it was always very kind to him, but he didn't use his chances... Last time he faced a seed in GS was Fish at USOpen 2010. Then losses to Seppi, Berrer, Kubot and Goffin.

Hope they will make at least great last run in doubles.

google is now a lot smarter with translation! too bad i won't be doing much of it now
Arnaud: "Tonight was the final singles match of my career! And yes, my decision was made before coming here to participate in qualifying. The match was intense, tight, nice because there was a good fight against Kenny is a quiet player with whom I get along! It is true that one has a special feeling when his rackets stored after the game and say it's over, but I feel very comfortable with this decision. For me it is a good time!
No, I do not really feel sadness. I look tonight after the tennis as a second career with new goals, different challenges! Everyone has in mind the Davis Cup captaincy. It is obvious that this is something that I liked a lot but if not I am selected, I know I'll find other projects that will motivate me ... For me, stopping my career as a tennis player that is not a "little death" as I have heard here and there. No, it is rather a second birth, a new life that opens up to me! Of course there is an element of unknown, a transition period ... I'll see how it will happen but until then I feel very calm and even agree with me. "

goodbye and good luck :awww: thanks for all the good (and bad?) times :crying2:

Here the last article in l'equipe a translation by google and me later. Adele the girl of bruno is born yesterday :)

Déjà, l’US, ça m’excite beaucoup moins...

Wimbledon n’a rien changé à l’affaire.

With the gracious help of google
THIS TIME IT'S FINISHED, and history has closed on court No. 13 of Roehampton, before a score of onlookers. It was there yesterday Arnaud Clement played (and lost out to compatriot Kenny De Schepper) a first round of Wimbledon qualifying he might as well have won (6-7, 7-6, 6 - 3). The loop is looped perfectly: it is indeed in London, in 1997, aged nineteen, had won the first Grand Slam match of his career. Today, "La clé" is thirty-four years and he's off at 142# in the world. It's time to bow out.

After his defeat in the second round of Roland Garros, Clement had left guessing about a possible extension in qualifying for the next U.S. Open. Meanwhile, water (and cogitation) has flowed under the bridge. "Prepare Roland and Wimb , it excited me, he said. Already, the U.S., it excites me a lot less ... And I can not afford to go to New York, like that. Last year I played in qualifying and challengers during the summer. There, I honestly do not feel like. "For a player who played in a Grand Slam final (Australia 2001) and pointed to 10th in the world, disappear after a match on a court anonymous, anonymous might seem inappropriate, even sad. Not for Clement. "I enjoyed myself, he admits. Kenny is a guy with a good spirit, there was a good atmosphere, it's a beautiful place ... I am a winner and I've always loved the victory, but now somehow I have nothing more to prove this last match. I would probably have been more affected if I had put foot in real Wimb. But it so happens that I will play doubles with Mika (Llodra) next week. I'm happy to live it with him. This is where I won my only Grand Slam title twice (in 2007), so it's nice and it's a nice nod. "

At Roland Garros, "the Key" was, according to his habits, handled perfectly self-deprecating, making fun of his lack of emotion at the time of leaving. Wimbledon has not changed anything in the matter. "Sure, I may take a little more time to make my bag at the exit of the court but frankly I am not sad, he says. This is not emotionally powerful. Yet I have thought during the match. I thought: "Hey, maybe I play my last match ..." But it did not go beyond. I've had no heart sank. There's still more important things in life, right? ... "

Beaten but Uncle

As a birth, for example. "I'm Uncle this morning! (Yesterday morning), he says. My brother had a little Adele. So I come home tomorrow (today) in France and I'll try to go for a ride to Aix. I think I'll be back at Wimbledon on Friday or Saturday. "For one last performance in doubles," quiet and without much ambition. "

It will then be time to finally opting for a different future. Many proclaim him on the chair of the team captain of France Davis Cup. "Yes, I talked to the guys who came up to me and ask questions, he concludes. So I have not seen all the players. Maybe there will be informal meetings during Wimb. Or maybe not. But, frankly, tonight, I did not too that in my mind. "This is understandable: being Uncle, that mark you a man.

For DC I think it's a joke they are not able to choose a name. FFT is not OK with Pioline ? They have dicussed since almost 3 months now  Arno seems OK with that and ready to find something else to do but surely after some rest. He will surely move back from geneva to aix

I didn't see but on the FFT they annouce his retirement and tere are the reactions of Gachassin and DIP :) http://www.fft.fr/wimbledon-2012/actualites/clement-range-ses-raquettes

The words of DIP are the most interesting

Translation of DIP words

Arnaud Di Pasquale, head of high-level male and close friend of Arnaud
"I knew it for a while. I think it's the right decision that he stops today. He is a lover of sport, but it should not dent his image. He was still competitive, we have seen it at the last "Roland" which was magnificent. But fifteen years is a long time. I know he is not sad. He feels at ease as well his in his personal life. It ' is not a sudden stop due to injury. It's a choice he has matured. I'm not worried about him, even if we speak of mourning for stopping a career high .He has interesting perspectives ... He will do lots of things. He is a fade of sports, including cycling.
Arnaud is a guy full of values. He was a meticulous player. When he joined the group of training of the Federation, late in his career, he shot all young people up. His career? Incredible! I am surprised, I confess. At 17, he should be classified only 0 ... It's true,we are also close friends. He was one of my two witnesses of marriage. We have common ground, of course, but we are also very different. He is borderline manic, I'm messy. When we were players and we shared rooms on the tournaments, I remember he would give my dirty laundry, it drove him crazy to see him hang in the room ... We have improved in contact with each other. There were also some memorable binges, of course ...
Arnaud is a generous guy with a quirky humor, a little bit in the clouds. He is also a very social. Far from the image of tennis champion distant from real life. He is also very straight. He has always feel guilty towards his problems with teh ballkids. When I became a dad, I said, 'Do you realize, this could be my son who picks you up the balls'. He was angry a lot, promised to make efforts and it lasted 12 minutes ... But that was not personal, it was his way of dealing with the pressure of competition. Arnaud is a really nice guy. His state of mind will stay in the French tennis. One way or another. "

They won in 3 sets :) Now Mika goes back in France and their match vs Bryans should be on monday. Problem is that the birth is due on monday so he may not come back in Wimbledon. It was maybe the last match of Arno

It seems Arnaud is officially part of the STAFF FFT now, since he stays in this house FFT hires for their staff.

he was at Bennet's match tonight.

Now he could come back in france as He said he has to talk with Mika but I think Mika will stay in France and there will not have the match against the Bryans http://www.lexpress.fr/actualite/sport/tennis/wimbledon-arnaud-clement-la-der-ou-pas_1132581.html

Let's hope...

He should take Gillou's example, who has waited for losing before leaving NYC to go back home.
Come one, it's his third kid, Mika knows wha's a newborn, no need to be there the first days...:angel:

i never have a kid so i can't comment. ideally going out playing the bryans would be a better conclusion for arno than before. but all four of them are old enough to know that playing is not the most important thing.

The birth of his baby is more important and even if he has no kids Arno is aware of this.

When I read the report I have not the feeling mika will come back http://www.fft.fr/wimbledon-2012/actualites/les-echos-de-wimbledon-v Arno could leave wimbledon today as until february he will have time to see players and he says he has already discussed with them here.

They're not scheduled on monday ;) Anyway rain is expected  Well we are still waiting the news about when they play and if they can go on court

yesterday Arno trained with Forget during one hour http://www.fft.fr/wimbledon-2012/actualites/les-echos-de-wimbledon-vi

But Gilou already missed the birth, so he would have never been on time. Even if he took the first plane back. That's different. I understand that Mika wants to be there or maybe Camille threatened to kill him if he misses it.

Baby Llodra is not yet born but Mika came back yesterday evening to play today. They are scheduled second on court 14 if weather permitting.

It means captain will miss the end of Jo and Richard matches while yesterday he was at Jo's match and had a 2 hour discussion with him during the rain delay. Captain is talkative  Well he already saw many matches of the guys and have time to see them again in others tournaments

 Jo may already be regretting his vote for captain. i can imagine a very animated captain on court side during future DC matches. well hopefully they will not need to wear team bandanas. but they may need to iron their own shirts.

good luck with the doubles today

I love the idea of team bandanas, especially after seeing Mika with one. That could be Arnaud's new tactic, defeat the opponent with laughter. :p

Iron their own shirts? I don't get it.

there will be no gold medal for arno and mika, but i guess they want to give it all for their last.

the bryans are more like the 'roger' of doubles lol

'iron their shirts' simply refers to arno's renowned self discipline! :D

It was not easy to work and try to watch the streaming for that last match .

They played very well during 2 sets and the Bryans up their level in the last set. Nice moments at the end with the pics in front od the scoreboard and with the twins. I get a record of my poor streaming but the last minutes of Arno on courts deserve a little memory like Arno who left the court with the balls of the last game of the last match of his career

Now he will rest and think about captaincy Not sure he will go to the OG to see the guys maybe only watch on Tv ;)

On the ATP site they made an article on his retirement http://www.atpworldtour.com/News/Tennis/2012/07/27/Wimbledon-Clement-Plays-Final-Match.aspx

And in our arnaud/mika thread, I can put an article about Mika haha
Friday it was the "inauguration" or their wine bar, called "Dr.Wine" in Dijon.
Mika was there, not Arnaud because he still was in Wimbledon to support Jo (good captain ! lol). It seems his third child was born the day before....
