Crowd Support - RG final

Rafa = Fed Killa
06-09-2012, 05:00 PM
The French crowd love Federer and the French.

They seem to hate anyone who stands up to Federer which both Rafa and Nole do.

Who will they cheer for (or knowing the French crowd boo less)
Will the crowd lose like always except the fluky 2009 or will the French crowd be winners for once.

Rafa or Nole?

Rafa, because he is the underdog, no?

French crowd know their tennis more than some clown who waits to see if a player 'looks like' winning a slam before supporting him, like a corrupt politician.

french tennis fans are fickle. they can turn on you for no reason at all.

there is no telling right now who they will support.

it could be the clay monster or it could be nole.

There won't be a crowd... They'll be staying at home in protest ("we want Roger! we want Roger!"). :p

They will support whoever appears to be losing. Nole has been brushing up on his French recently and doing interviews in French so I'm sure that will give him a slight edge at the start of the match.

That's a good stab in the dark. I won't be surprised to hear a few Rodgers during the match which albeit hilarious would be inappropriate. I won't say I won't like it though :p.

Chances are they will support Nole because Im sure the French are getting tired of seeing Nadal win all the time and plus, Nadal kept knocking out Feds, who's a crowd favorite.

That's a good thing.

I don't think "easy booing" is a good thing, not showing much respect to the players.

You can have a lively crowd like at the australian open but repectfull too.

the french crowd hates both of them, they will be cheering for their god fed during the final lol.

I don't know. they seem not to like neither Nole or Rafa ... I hate that match Nole and Fed played last year ... it wasn't fair to Djokovic at all... it was just too much ... I've never seen the crowed being so hostile to a player like that before ... sure they love Fed but still, there was nothing that Nole did to provoke them ... it was so rude

I did like that Novak grinned at them when they jeered during the semi entrance. I hope he gives them that crazy nodding look tomorrow! These french excel at making this event feel like some 250 eurotrash tournament. I think I kind of like it truth be told.

Some of them even booed Djokovic while entering the court for the SF's, probably because he rejected to lose to Tsonga. My guess is a bit more support for Nadal. Bottom line, they won't have any affect on this match/players performances.

Novak pissed them off in back to back matches. He literally trolled them in that Tsonga match and then beat Fed.

Rock on, Novak :rocker2:

i mean the french crowd does not like DJokovic at all so of course they will back the king of their tournament... honestly not many GS crowds seem to like Novak much, I don't remember the last Grand Slam where he was heavy popular favorite. maybe at Australia although I can't recall? US OPEN/Wimbledon/Roland Garros, and the latter and former esspecially, he gets some hate

The French don't like either, so they'll root for whoever is losing to get the most for their money.

I hope Rafa.

LeChuck

I would shocked if the majority of the crowd didn't root for a guy appearing in his first ever RG final over a guy who was won the title 6 times in the last 7 years.

They'll go for Novak. Novak gave the on court interview in French after the semis, and the French love that. Happened in the past with Courier and Kuerten.

Don't understimate Djokovic ability to annoy any crowd. He has the Azarenka effect. So I think they will be kinder to Rafa.
Or that's what I hope :o :o :o

As long as they are respectful to both players, i.e. no booing/cheering on double faults, I'll be happy regardless of who they cheer the loudest for.

That's precisely what I love about the French Open. Rafa is constantly winning and making those Parisian fruitcakes go nuts. :D

They can throw water bottles at him, but their precious tournament is still virtually "Rafa Open, No?" deep behind the French lines.

Nadal is way more liked than Nole in France. He will have the strongest support. Nole will have support during the match though if Nadal leads cause the crowd will want a longer final.
