Quite a lot of players failed to enter....

Poposil (guessing he thinks he'll enter automatically)
Kavcic (ditto)
Capdeville
Zellabos
A Beck (still hurt?)
Prodon
Delbonis
Souza
Riba (injured)
Ward (got a WC?)
Hanescu (this one's odd - guess he likes his chances of getting in automatically)
Golubev (why?)
Becker (using his PR)
Junqueira
Carreno-Busta
Bagnis
Schuettler (looks like he's ended his career)
Baker (got a WC?)
Huta Galung (odd one - perhaps he feels he has a better shot at points at Rosmalen then here?)
Clezar
Devvarman (using his PR)

A lot more than RG.

Huta Galung will have a WC in 's-Hertogenbosch.

Ward and Baker are guaranteed WCs, so no need to enter (and they have no chance of getting a direct entry anyway).

Don't quite understand why Zeballos, Golubev and Carreño-Busta aren't giving it a try.

On the upside, Crivoi looks likely to get in :D

He sucks on grass (seen it with my own eyes), but whatever. Can't wait for the event to start :D

PCB is injured IIRC. I can semi-understand Zeba (but he'll probably end up being a top seed so that's stupid) but Golubev is weird.

Having a WC at Den Bosch didn't stop Sijsling entering, tbh.

DGT and Hajek entering is funny, then again there is no challenger in that week.

I can't understand Zeballos. His game is actually quite compatible with grass, and I could see him qualifying.

True about Sijsling. Perhaps he wants to play on Sunday and, in case of a loss, still make it to Roehampton for Monday. But I don't know if that is allowed, because I presume that entails playing two events in the same week (and I don't feel like checking the rulebook). So I guess he will still withdraw.

Jonh Millman 19 alt, Matt Reid Alt 30, Sam Groth 44 Alt, Carsten Ball 52 Alt, Smith 56 Alt, Klein Alt 76, Greg Jones Alt 78, Michael Look Alt 100, James Lemke Alt 117, Saville Alt 123.

Only Millman with a hypothetical chance, but even 19th ALT is probably too much to ask.

Having no Challenger in the week of Wimbledon qualifying has really altered the composition of the field here. Loads of players that normally would be playing on clay in Milan.

GL to all my favorites! Maybe some of them will surprise me and actually qualify, but it doesn't seem likely outside of maybe Simone.

Yep...They need to have at least one challenger the same week as Grand Slam qualies for all the slams I reckon...

Fingers crossed at least Millman can somehow scrape in..

Simone must qualify, and so should Florent. I will absolutely collapse if they are in the same section. Also, hopefully Mikey avoids Florent, as well as Fred. Florent will be seeded so hopefully he gets an easy draw, and Gaba will also likely be seeded.

when do qualies start?

Draw tonight, play starts tomorrow.

Weather forecast pretty dire for the morning, but reasonable for most of the day. See here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2643743).

I kind of hope Monday is a wash-out though. I can't make it to London until like 16:00, and don't want to miss so many matches.

So Zopp is quali top seed ? Tough luck not to get into MD.Why are players, who probably withdraw from MD anyway , leave their notice of withdrawal so late ? I bet there will be more withdrawals than Quevas and Soda, who did it on time.

Zopp is 5th alt in MD entry list (it is made 6 weeks ago when he had a lower ranking), so I wouldn't call it tough luck

It was British Embassy in Paris.

Denys applied for British visa while playing Roland Garros. He still did not have the answer when I met him in Halle... But at the end of the week he got that anwer: British embassy did not give him a visa.

Terrible! English football fans are in Ukraine without any visas. Yet professional tennis player from Ukraine can not play Wimbledon because he was refused in obtaining British visa.

Isn't this a violation of the ATP/WTA rules like the whole Shahar Peer fiasco in Dubai a few years ago? :scratch:No: in that case, the tournament was owned & operated by the Dubai government who was also responsible for issuing visas. The government was refusing to issue a visa as a way of keeping a player out of a tournament.

AELTC has no authority to issue visas; the British government does.
