9 Aces, 80% won on 1st serve, saved all break points against him. Good stats against an opponent who could have been dangerous on clay.

Prodon is a tricky player because he hits a lot of drop shots and changes the pace of the ball but Grigor should beat him comfortably if he plays aggressive tennis and controls the rallies.

Nice work Grigor - looks like he has put the last few weeks behind him and is ready to move forward. Simon is a tough player - Grigor will have to be patient and not overhit. He will need to serve well and put pressure on Simon's service game. He's got his work cut out for him but hopefully he can pull this one out.

First set Simon, 6-3.

Pretty Flat start from Grisho, was starting to pick it up towards the end of that set though. Simon stretching out his legs, so maybe he has an issue.

W/UE 8/19 for Grisho though, needs to up the consistency to win this one.

Hypnotize
05-23-2012, 05:04 PM
I caught the last game so I don't know anything about the match but it's a shame he couldn't take advantage of those two break back points he had in the 2nd set. At least he played 5 matches here which should help him going into RG.

Mephistopheles
05-23-2012, 05:06 PM
Comfortable 6-3 6-3 win for Simon. Grisho's UE's were the factor in the match, when he cut those down at the beginning and end of the second set, he was rallying and hitting winners well, but he wasn't able to sustain it for long enough.

An in form Simon was always gonna be a tough ask, and Grisho has a few days to work on a couple of things for the French Open, so onwards and upwards!

Great match and some of the shot-making was from both players was unbelievable. It sucks that he lost but I'm proud he played through the pain and finished the match. It took real guts and determination and he deserves everyone's respect for the way he played in the last two sets. My only criticism is he should have played as aggressively as he did in the last two sets right from the start. If he is going to succeed, he needs to go for his shots more and finish points quickly.

He better not be injured because I have just got two tickets for Wimbledon (Court1, first Tuesday and Wedneday) and I really want to see him play. I can't wait!

But he didn't play three days in row last year. And it was his 8th set in RG at the 2nd set today(count single and double together), regard to his situation in AO(he also got muscle problem at the 9th set), 8~10set may be his limitation in three days:scratch::shrug:

And considering Chardy's terrible condition at R1 and the scores, although there was no streaming yesterday , i can imagine he must play a hard game yesterday.

So.....what were you thinking about when you decided to attend the double:facepalm:

People get cramp for all number of reasons, it doesn't necessarily mean he's not fit enough. It can be caused by a lack of fluids, a lack of minerals, a minor stomach upset or even just twisting the muscle when you land badly. In the point where it happened, he stopped suddenly with his leg extended and he seemed to jolt it. It could be what caused the problem. He seems to be very fit to me. He ran down everything and got to some impossible balls. As I said in my last posts, he needs to finish points quicker on serve so he is not working so hard in every service game.

What a great show by Grisho, showing his full range of shot-making and fighting spirit! The cramping was a real shame, and horrible to watch, he was looking like he was going to go 2 sets to love up at that point.

Let's hope it was only cramping, so he can heal quickly and be ready for the grass season, as he has found some good form recently and has always been very strong on grass.

Proud fan :P

I don't know! Maybe you are right but I've never seeing cramping after 2 sets until now! This is rather strange! I agree he looked fitter until this particular point maybe he twisted something! Anyway Mouratogly should have put more efforts about what he is drinking/minerals/stamina issue cause it is rather disappointing :(

Could the cramp be caused of breathing problems? I know he has a severe pollen alergy and quite often during this time of the year he surfers a lot! I also notice he breaths trough his mouth and less trouh his nose which I think is a very serious problem on the long run!

It can be caused by breathing problems because it raises your potassium levels which then lowers your sodium levels. Many things can cause cramp and it was unfortunate he got affected by it today. I used to get cramp a lot when I was in my late teens but I never suffered from it after that.

Hi Berba. I got my tickets through a lottery at a tennis club. You can queue in the morning to get tickets for the show courts - Centre, Number1 and Number2 which are always the first to go so you really have to get there early. You can also buy a ticket (grounds pass) that lets you go to any of the other courts (3-17) which is always good value for money. You just go to the court and sit in any seat that is available. I haven't been for a couple of years but in the past, when ticket holders for Centre and Number1 left early (which many often do) they were asked to hand in their tickets. Wimbledon then sells these tickets at a very reasonable rate, in the grounds around 5pm which is great for the fans who couldn't get a CC ticket earlier and it fills up the court. I've seen a lot of amazing evening matches on CC this way.

You should definitely try and go. Wimbledon is easily the best tournament in the world and every tennis fan should go at least once in their life.

As early as possible, especially if you want a ticket for one of the show courts. If you are happy with a grounds-pass then you should still try and be there for 9am. It's not like the 2nd week when queues start forming the night before but it's still going to be busy. Bring a folding umbrella btw. It may be summer but it can rain at any time in the UK.
