Frank had a break lead in both sets and was serving for the match, but what matters most is he got the victory. Frank only served 41% first serves, but got most of his 12 aces in important moments and protected his second serve better than Chardy's, which made the difference. Great way to finish the match after the disappointment of not closing things out, winning the tiebreak to love.

Fish is a very winnable match for Frank in the next round, hopefully he continues he win streak which is now at 9 matches!

He's the one who retired on match point right? :spit:

Jeremy . You need some wins pronto or you'll have to pump gas for a living :o.

9 matches. Two in qualifying, this one here, and 6 in the MD+qualifying at Dallas :)

Jeremy was 9-5 coming into this event, he's having a good year, but Dancevic is the better HC player with the more stable game overall so this win was expected. And yes, he's the one who defaulted down MP a few weeks ago in a challenger

Frank :yeah: a little sad that he faced Jeremy, but...
He plays Fish next, hopefully on a show court that we get to see.

that retirement seems to have spurred him on, he's only lost once since in 11 matches, a 3 set loss to reynolds in IW qualifying:lol:

whatever works:worship:

Outside of his Sarasota SF, Frank doesn't defend much at all until essentially November. Top 100 is right there in his grasp if he can qualify at the two majors coming up again, and with one decent grass court result, he'll be there. USO cutoff should be a definite goal.

Sarasota is only 33 points, while his three GS qualis is 35 each. This years grass season will hopefully push him into the top 100. I hope he plays a couple of the big HC challengers instead of trying his luck on the red stuff.

I think he has a better chance of defending the Q points from the majors than the Sarasota points. Frank is money at slam qualies.

Dancevic won 14 more points than Chardy in the second set, but the score was 7-6, I wonder what the record is for point differential in a 7-6 set.

Dammit, I don't think it's enough to routine Fish :o.

That's amazing difference for a tie-break set but I suppose it happens quite often when set ends with 7-0 because 4/5 point advantage of a player before a tie-break is normal.

It's easy to calculate that the biggest possible difference in a tie-break set is 19 points.

Great stuff Frank! I do worry about his back though. He plays a lot in these two weeks.

So why only top 100? Top 75 should be his goal if he stays fit, maybe even top 50. He certainly has the quality to do it.
