Miami 2011 SF, a "mugging in Miami" as one commentator so eloquently put it, Rafa won 6-3, 6-2 in 79 minutes, Rafa won 60% to 40% of the total points, and...

Total Serve points- 77% Nadal, 53% Federer
Total Return points- 46% Nadal, 22% Federer
Total points- 60% Nada, 40% Federer

And just yesterday was... in 92 minutes...

Serve points- 64% Federer, 54% Nadal
Return points- 46% Federer, 36% Nadal
Total points- 55% Federer, 45% Nadal

Really, only Nadal's comeback late in the 2nd prevented it from being a real beatdown. I pick Miami 2011.

How could Miami be a bigger beatdown when Fed made something like 40 UEs in that match ? For me the beatdown is when somebody blows you out of the court and this was the case yesterday

Certainly in terms of stats, Miami 2011 was the bigger beatdown, but it is tough to compare especially because of the conditions and rains delays, albeit the last one was right before MP.

Fed did not seem to give a damn that night due to the conditions playing against him. He just said 'scr*** it' and sort of gave up. RG was a lot worse.

Fed was awful in Miami but then Rafa wasn't great yesterday either. The conditions made yesterday difficult to judge i.e. was Fed really destroying Rafa or was Rafa self-imploding in the wind and not knowing what to do. To me neither are great beatdowns because the players who lost both times contributed to their loss a lot by their own play. A beatdown is your own level being overwhelming - Fed at WTF 2011 and Rafa at RG 08 in that respect delivered more of a beatdown.

Yesterday despite Nadal's play he mounted a bit of a comeback and had more of a go at Fed's serve - broke back to get it to 3-3 in the first; got one break back in the second etc. - so though quite out of it there was still the outside chance of recovery. Miami 2011 was faster and Fed just didn't get anything going at all vs Rafa...

THe biggest beatdown statistically between any pairing of the Big 4 ever was Federer's 6-3 6-0 victory over Rafa at the WTFs, I've updated my thread with 2012's matches between the big 4 in case anyone is interested: http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=193260

Of the two you list, Miami was the bigger beatdown though.
