He is guranteed the number 10 spot after beating Djokovic. Could get the 8 spot if he wins the final!

Live ranking

Here's hoping he cracks the top 8 tomorrow then! One of the really nice guys on the tour who has worked on his footwork and groundies so much in the past few years. The man has rightly earned his spot in the top ten.

03-17-2012, 08:57 PM
I wasn´t thinking at beginning of season he will make it this season and he surprised me i think he will be 8th, RAfa won´t stop him for sure and Roger won´t make it through Rafa.

03-17-2012, 08:57 PM
He is a really nice guy and hard worker.. you diserved this big man

03-17-2012, 08:58 PM
Congratulations Big John! :D

03-17-2012, 08:59 PM
Saw it coming. With a serve like his (and with a little dedication to the game) it was only a matter of time.

03-17-2012, 09:00 PM
He is gonna win tomorrow too - nobody is returning that serve on these high bouncing courts. He seems to be in form of his life as well, so him reaching TOP 5 is not out of the question either

03-17-2012, 09:00 PM
Awesome. :yeah: Great achievement.

Would be awesome if he wins tomorrow, we would finally have a good top 8 without that mug named Fish there.

I agree with a lot of people that his game isn't attractive, but he for sure isn't a mug or clown, which even in the top 10 can be rare.

Loveable character, wish him all the best.

03-17-2012, 09:02 PM
Congrats to Isner. Clutch performance. Don't care for his game at all, but he is by far the most likable of the Americans

With his last impressive wins over Federer and Djokovic it's a well deserved achievement.

31st Top 10 player (http://voodemar.com/?p=5999) of the United States in the Open Era.

03-17-2012, 09:03 PM
Absolutely deserved :sport:

03-17-2012, 09:06 PM
I like his story. Congrats John :yeah:

03-17-2012, 09:07 PM
Great guy. It seems he is very strong mentaly. Welcome to top 10 :)

03-17-2012, 09:07 PM

Actually he takes Del Potro's place.

Craig Boynton is the best coach on tour at the moment. The improvement of Isner's weaknesses and his mental toughness is as good or better than Magnus Norman's efforts with Soderling :worship:

03-17-2012, 09:12 PM
Love it. People may dislike his game but he's got an infectious personality and plays his best at tight moments, which makes a nice change from what we usually see outside of Nole and Rafa.

03-17-2012, 09:15 PM
Long overdue. Keep it up big man.

03-17-2012, 09:17 PM
Actually he takes Del Potro's place.

Yeah i just realised Delpo lost 180 points from last year, well Fixa and Fish are going down soon.

Great stuff, well deserved. :hatoff:
Victories over Fed and Djoko within one month time, that's saying something!

Given the fact Isner was actually below .500 heading into Newport last season, he's got the opportunity of his career to really rise up the ranks very quickly and establish himself as a top 8 player going forward. He's proven he's very dangerous on clay and with his confidence levels so high right now, sky is the limit. As long as he continues to win, the ranking will take care of itself.

03-18-2012, 12:18 AM
Congrats John, deserved!!

And now let's smile on these 'old' comments: http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=196705&highlight=isner+top+10

A serve, a forehand, and a ton of heart. Welcome to the Top 10 Big John.

03-18-2012, 12:54 AM
great another serve bot, just what we needed

03-18-2012, 01:06 AM
great another serve bot, just what we needed

Are you stupid? If so,Federer can also be considered a serve bot.

And Del Potro,he ought to have had a very powerful serve due to his height, but his serve is too weak compare to Isner & Raonic.

03-18-2012, 01:20 AM
Omg Tipsarevic back to No.9 .

03-18-2012, 01:20 AM
I wouldn't take anything a Nalbandian fan says seriously. They have to be completely miserable people to start, so let them do their venting and take it for what it is.

it's good that we got what we needed

welcome to the top 10, he deserved it. Congrats John

03-18-2012, 03:05 AM
Nicely done cutie.

03-18-2012, 03:10 AM
Well done John. Richly deserved. Finally an American player in the top 10 who isnt a jerk unlike Mugdy
Please lose tomorrow though okay?> :D

03-18-2012, 03:12 AM
Funny how Tipsarevic is #9 now. Congrats John

03-18-2012, 03:15 AM
Actually Big Dick John Isner is one of my favorite American players. At least he's not a prick like A-Rod, Harrison or Fish. He seems like the type of person who could be your wing man in the clubs or come over to play video games.

03-18-2012, 03:15 AM
Mardy and Tipsa still strongly secure their spots without playing a lot of matches.

03-18-2012, 08:08 AM
Certainly congratulations John. I really didn't actually see this coming. I knew he was hovering around the top, but I didn't think he would get this close right now especially considering that New York was his only decent slam performance lately.

03-18-2012, 08:09 AM
bad for tennis

Why? We want another defensive baseliner like Murray, Djokovic and Nadal?

03-18-2012, 08:15 AM
Good for John, he's a nice guy and works hard, not the typical jerk jock like Roddick or Harrison :yeah:

Very hard worker and likeable individual so he deserves this achievement. His game when he first came on tour, club grounstrokes and world class serve. Now his forehand is a good shot which he can use to take advantage off the short replies generated from his serve.

As for his game what do people expect. He has the speed of Usain Bolt, the graceful movement of Federer, the determination of Nadal, radar consistency of Djokovic, the variation of Dolgopolov and volleys like Edberg.

He is a smart player and sound temperament, it's hard to get to his backhand which is the weaker side. Has good hands at the net and he isn't a clay clown at all.

03-18-2012, 08:56 AM
at least tipsarevic will be kicked out of the top 10, thats the only good thing about this.

well done lil John

Completely deserved for the big man. Took his time before turning pro, got the education and now all the hard work and dedication to the sport is paying dividends. Genuine nice guy off the court as well, hope he can solidify his spot in the top ten throughout the year and beyond.

Ajde

03-18-2012, 09:46 AM
What? Del Potro is out of the top 10 not Tipsy. Learn to look at an image?ah ofcourse delpo lost points because he made it to the semis last year. no worries though as he will take his place in top 10 soon.

03-18-2012, 12:17 PM
I dont see him being top 10 as any better than almagro, fish or tipsarevic being top 10 to be honest

03-18-2012, 12:24 PM
top 10 gets even weaker.

good lord

Big John is here :worship:.

03-18-2012, 01:22 PM
Isner is the tallest (and maybe heaviest) top10 player ever i reckon? Anyway I think he's showing a path for the future here where big giants can become an antidote to the defensive grinders. Slow courts actually benefits giants. They get more time for their swings and movement which doesn't make them useless in the return game and in baseline rallies. Still the power and strength allows them to hit through the court. The serve and especially the 2nd serve are still prime weapons, especially when the bounce is high. A guy like Isner really can get wicked kick in his serves turning them almost unreturnable.

I really look forward the potential damage he could do during clay season. Who knows with a better draw than last time maybe he could go deep in RG too.

03-18-2012, 01:28 PM
:wavey: Well Big John was about time ...you have it all...NOW get a good team and sweat yourself out with cardio and physio..and strengthen those legs!!
