Gilles is excellent on slow hard courts. Ryan is a fairly good server but hardly had any aces today.

Just checked Simon's return game record, he's 26% career average, 28% on the year. The Djoke is something like 41% return games won. I think Isner has this one.

Hopefully Simon saves tennis here.

Just checked out some videos of Simon/Isner. He can't get a read on the Isner serve. He has a bad record against Karlovic too, the only win he got was on clay and that was in a breaker in the 3rd set.

When Simon will use his brain he should win this, maybe even in straight, in 3 if he loose TB. Their only match at USO was close and Isner was in better form. Simon should do 2 things and he must win -

1.get everything back ala Melzer - just get it back in play it will frustrate Isner that he is not getting so many free points.Simon has decent ROS, just need to stand few metres behind baseline and get every ball he can back in play in rallies i like his chances he can redirect pace and make his opponents to make errors.

2.Another thing, Isner in interview said Monaco´s serve was bothering him, despite his serve is not good he was going for high percentage. If Simon can FS go for high percentage, that means move him lef, right, not going for bombs, he can move him and dictate immediately after his serve and won´t be under pressure of 2nd serves, if he has high FS%.

About court speed and who likes it more, i think for both slow HC is great surface, Isner has enough time for better timing, higher bounce means balls are getting into his striking zone, also more time for his deffense, movement.

Simon´s advantage here he can get everything back and Isner can´t hit through him so easily.

If Isner wins, he saves tennis. If Simon wins, he saves tennis. If either win, tennis loses.

He will be 11th whether win or lose tonight. If Almagro wins today and John lose he'll be still 12th.
