In the second set Tsonga was *4-3, then *5-4 30-0 and 40-30 but he imploded completely.
Some great stuff from both guys mixed up with extreme clownisheness.
Great week for Nalby, beating two top 10s back to back.

5-4 up 30*-0, has so many options, misses, and invites Clownga to court for the rest of the match.

Nalbandian pounced beautifully though. :worship:

That break at 5-4 30-0 was the turning point
I must admire Nalbandian for not giving up in any moment but come on Tsonga this was yours for the taking :(

great result for Dave, but aside from the usual sprinkling of incredible shotmaking, a fairly appalling match quality-wise.

Nalby looked 5 years younger at times. Gotta hand it to him, when fit his brand of tennis is still tough for any opponent. And as always his game is impressive on the eyes to boot

good to see Nalbandian back to winning ways. the only thing Tsonga can do better than David is serve so I am not surprised by the result!

Yves.
03-15-2012, 12:45 AM
Tsonga doesn't deserve that 6th spot. He simply doesn't use his talent, he has to go to the net way more often.

No, 30-0 and 40-30.

It's tough to believe that Tsonga lost this match like a total mug. Of course he should have won the point at 30-0 in that game, but his reaction was inadequate, he had still his serve, and Nalbandian seemed like a guy who rather accepted the loss today... until leveled up at 5 games apiece.

This looked just like in the old times, play like shit for 2 sets, gets down match points and then snatch a victory from the jaws of a defeat. :superlol:
I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens in some of his next matches, but in a reverse role. Some fun running forehand bombs from Tsonga, extremely fast and excellent defense in the first two sets. Nalbandian with few magic strokes in the third set, but that was it, nowhere near the level he had against Tipsarevic.

Nice for David to take the win, even though I had Tsonga upsetting Nadal in my draw.

Nalbandian likely won't have a chance against Nadal though, he's far from the player who beat Nadal a few years back. Slower and not as consistent.

David has really underachieved the past few years because of injury. Every time he wins a title (Washington 2010, Auckland [or Sydney] 2011) he gets injured. when I saw the draw when it first came out and was making picks, I saw that Nalbandian has positive H2H with his first 3 potential matches. Nice to see him get a break every once and a while.

Sonja1989

Not the best result, if Tsonga would have won, Kubot is in top 50. :sobbing:

Have always loved Nalby's style of playing. Winning or losing, he is smooth as glass. Always thought Tsonga had the talent and power to get where he is, but have lost hope that he will ever win a slam. His inability to maintain focus throughout a match is his biggest weakness.

I know the surfaces for the 1st part of the year don't really suit him and he's doing better this year than this time last year, but he shouldn't be losing 6-3 5-4 30-0 leads.

:rocker2: Fitbandian is back!

Happy for him. Watching him play good tennis is really a joy. Such a clean hitting of the ball. He likes to play top players, gets extra motivated.

As for Clownga...another match which shows why he won't win a slam for a loooong time and probably never. Unconsistant, questionable tactics and mentaly fragile. Similar to Monfils.
Looks like that being black and french at the same time is a bad combination.:tape: No rasism intended.
