Rotterdam QF: Davydenko def. Gasguet 7-5 6-3Gabe32 02-17-2012, 09:09 PM After a shakey start, Davydenko played great.:worship: Certinfy 02-17-2012, 09:10 PM Unbelievable! After going 2-5 down in the first Davydenko was absolutely unplayable! Stunning to see him back and playing like that! :worship:  I take back all the times I said he should retire, after seeing that he might just be back playing top 10 tennis. MIMIC 02-17-2012, 09:11 PM What a performance  Looked extremely vulnerable in the beginning of the 1st set, then became unplayable :rocker2: misty1 02-17-2012, 09:11 PM davy:bounce: please keep this up Tennis-Life 02-17-2012, 09:11 PM Davai Kolya :worship: :armed: habibko 02-17-2012, 09:12 PM looked confident in the 2nd set :worship: glimpses of peak Davy :hearts: now beat that swiss loser TheBoiledEgg 02-17-2012, 09:13 PM that was brill from Kolya :D :woohoo: Deathless Mortal 02-17-2012, 09:14 PM Excellent play by Kolya :worship: Hope he gives Fed a match tomorrow :yeah: ballbasher101 02-17-2012, 09:15 PM I did say if he played well this year then he should not retire. He was on fire today. The Davydenko of old was back. Lets hope he keeps it up for the rest of the year. TBkeeper 02-17-2012, 09:15 PM now my life is complete with my heart filled with some ol'Davy but i'm so freaking angered at PUERTA in the FO 2005 SF against Davy ... yuri27 02-17-2012, 09:16 PM Hold on he was only facing chokesquet. Federer will straight sets him Gillezzz 02-17-2012, 09:16 PM Unbelievable! Gasquet was great but Davy showed fantastic performance! henke007 02-17-2012, 09:17 PM Great result, Kolya!! misty1 02-17-2012, 09:17 PM Hold on he was only facing chokesquet. Federer will straight sets him well even if he loses to roger this has still been a great week for him and if anything this gives hope that he will get back to where he was duong 02-17-2012, 09:17 PM Great win for Davydenko ! :) The public sounded happy as they could feel how important it was for him. I always said his game was still there, he's a little bit slower but most of all, it's a problem of confidence he's had for 2 years. Also it's good for him because it will secure his place in clay masters 1000 tournaments and last year, he said that he would stop his carreer when he could not enter masters 1000 tournaments, then it's important for him. Unfortunately he has to meet Fed now, and usually he's the player who's the hardest for his confidence. This confidence may not still be there back enough for tomorrow. It was not yet the best Davydenko. But anyway he will be happy. Gasquet played quite well but he made few errors which cost him at bad moments and most of all he relied too much on a tactics which did work when Davydenko lacked confidence. dwarf shortage 02-17-2012, 09:18 PM Davy's winners were amazing. Way too good in the end for a passive Gasquet.I hope old davy is back Gagsquet 02-17-2012, 09:19 PM Name change in coming nadejda 02-17-2012, 09:23 PM Kolya was the GOAT tonight :worship: second set was a real beauty! Keep it up Kolya! Richie  LastRocket 02-17-2012, 09:23 PM Amazing from Davydenko :worship: That's how he did it (2010 quote from Davydenko): "I don't drink so much because, you see, I'm skinny. I mix only. Sometimes I drink clear vodka, sometimes mixed with Red Bull. It gives me a little bit of power in a nightclub or disco. Because if I drink only vodka I go straight to sleep." Corey Feldman 02-17-2012, 09:23 PM vintage Denko in 2nd set v the little frog, he eats pushers for breakfast Puschkin 02-17-2012, 09:24 PM Davydenko had a poor start, but Richard served poorly in this set and could not benefit from this advantage, 49 % first serves is just not good enough. He was also too passive. In the second set, both played well up to 3 all, then Nikolaj became unplayble, the two pints to get to bp and to take the break were brilliant. Seingeist 02-17-2012, 09:28 PM Very heartening to see glimpses of old Denko. Shame he's gonna get spanked by Fed, but them's the breaks. Played Fed at Doha for the last 3 consecutive years (including this one), and his last victory over him was in Doha 2010. Fed spanked him pretty hard a few weeks ago (6-2 6-2), so it's not looking good. misty1 02-17-2012, 09:30 PM Very heartening to see glimpses of old Denko. Well Gasquet beat him 6-3 6-4 only 2 weeks ago and look what happened today. ;) Seingeist 02-17-2012, 09:35 PM Well Gasquet beat him 6-3 6-4 only 2 weeks ago and look what happened today. ;) Fair point, but Gasquet is certainly not Federer. :) Peak Kolya had plenty of trouble with peak Fed, and Davydenko has since fallen much farther than Federer has. Gustavo Kuerten 02-17-2012, 09:37 PM Very sexy result. Seingeist 02-17-2012, 09:39 PM going by reports if they both bring their level of play from their matches today davy should be able to at least make it more interesting..maybe even take a set Federer really wasn't bad today. Those who say he was are not giving enough credit to Nieminen, who was generally very solid on his service games. From what I saw of the Fed match, Nieminen was playing MUCH better than Gasquet was. Kat_YYZ 02-17-2012, 09:40 PM nice for Davy :yeah: I hope loses tomorrow though  duong 02-17-2012, 09:45 PM Federer really wasn't bad today. Those who say he was are not giving enough credit to Nieminen, who was generally very solid on his service games. From what I saw of the Fed match, Nieminen was playing MUCH better than Gasquet was. it was a very different match but I agree with you that Fed looked quite good imo. Will be a totally different match-up anyway, esp with this defensive version of Gasquet he had chosen to play, hoping he would face a badly confident Kolya. scarecrows 02-17-2012, 09:56 PM about time he starts to play decent again hopefully a good season ahead ossie 02-17-2012, 10:29 PM gascoke is without a doubt the most overrated player ever and im not only talking about mtf either. people all over the tennis world have been hyping up this clown since he was a teenager and to think that some of them were thinking this pussy of a tennis player would one day win a slam is ridiculous. i hope his fans are suffering right now. leng jai 02-17-2012, 10:31 PM gascoke is without a doubt the most overrated player ever and im not only talking about mtf either. people all over the tennis world have been hyping up this clown since he was a teenager and to think that some of them were thinking this pussy of a tennis player would one day win a slam is ridiculous. i hope his fans are suffering right now. Orka_n 02-17-2012, 11:12 PM Ajde Kolya! :inlove: Ajde. fran70 02-17-2012, 11:13 PM Woody like to see Davydenko tomorrow :no::no: Good for Davydenjo but Gasquet... another hard day on the office Kolya 02-17-2012, 11:14 PM Nice to see Davy back with some form, he should have also never left Prince! Time Violation 02-17-2012, 11:19 PM Pretty sure 95% of his fans are fans because of his backhand so I think they'll be fine. Why are they not fans of Wawrinka then? He can hit some amazing one-handers as well :) Anyway, really bad loss for Richie, if he can't win a set off Davy here, not sure how he thinks he'll be back to top 10 :) BroTree123 02-17-2012, 11:48 PM I will say this again: Davydenko will win Rotterdam. Sham Kay 02-17-2012, 11:48 PM Gasquet tends to struggle against overly solid baseliners.. but after his recent struggles it's surprising Davy actually managed to stay so consistently solid, especially in the 2nd. Glimpses of old Davy. Good to see. abraxas21 02-18-2012, 02:41 AM good result for kolya he needed this more that richie dabeast 02-18-2012, 05:32 AM good to see Davy's back :yeah: hope for a great semi tmr Mystique 02-18-2012, 05:50 AM great week already from Kolya.
