Stepanek was scary good this match. His style is perfect for doubles.
Both guys have great chemistry and it was nice to see how much the title means to both of them.

I respect Bob and Mike, but this is a fantastic result. Paes had been chasing the career Grand Slam for a few years, and it is great that he has been able to achieve it. The man is a legend of the game, overcame a nasty illness to his brain a few years ago, and deserves extra credit for achieving this feat at the ripe old age of 38! It just proves what you can achieve if you don't give up...

Also nice that Stepanek wins a Slam. As others say, his game is perfect for doubles and would complement Paes' skills nicely.

well done to both

happy that Radek won a slam in doubles, if he had concentrated more in doubles in the past years he would have won a lot more, but rightfully was dedicated to his singles career. Maybe if he sees that he cant do much in singles he can have a few seasons as protagonist in doubles

It feels great to see them win. As an Indian, I am so proud of Leander.

It's been tough time for us Indian sports fan every since winning cricket world cup. We have not really won much. Leander though with the help of Stepanek has gotten some great smiles on our faces.

Thanks.

I called it so I'm happy. They had a very tough draw but have been impressive all tournament. Stepanek is very solid and makes you wonder how the doubles tour would look if more singles players gave it a real chance.

What an absolute master-class in doubles this was from Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek. That they just ran away with the first tiebreaker 7-1 was the first sign of dominance, but the second set took it to a different level.

Congratulations, Leander and of course he kept bowing to Radek during the match to liven things up. Leander was emotional at the end, and surely had reason to be, having completed a career men's doubles Grand Slam, and done it in the presence of friends like Martina Navratilova.

Leander Paes completed his career grand slam winning the Australian Open doubles title partnering Czech' Radek Stepanek ... They defeated Bryans in the final ... This was Leander's 5th doubles final at Australian open and he lost 3 times against Bryan twins so this was sweet win for him ... This was his 7th men's doubles grand slam title for him.

Lee and Radek were unseeded pair and they defeated 5 seeded pairs to won the title ... They defeated 14th seed in 2nd round, 3rd seed pair in 3rd round, 10th seed the quarter-final, 2nd seed in the semifinal and top-seed Bryans in the final.

HATS OFF THE LEGEND OF TENNIS LEANDER PAES :worship::worship::worship:

Nearly all the top players in doubles started playing it after they realized they couldn't make it in singles (you can easily make it up from their career highs in singles), everyone in the top 100 has enough talent to reach the top 20 in doubles.

It's totally to say any singles player can play doubles if he's fully committed. How about I say the other way around. Any doubles player can play singles if he really just gives up doubles and fully concentrate on Singles.

Leander was a fantastic singles player. He won Junior Wimbledon and later went on to achieve Olympic medal in singles when Agassi won the gold. He has even beaten Sampras.

Paes is a slight exception, but even he never made it to the top 50 if I remember correctly.

Come on people, Fabio Fognini is ranked 35th in doubles.

A major advantage for singles players is that they can get into doubles events on their singles ranking and then play other singles players that aren't as good at doubles or players that don't give a fuck about doubles.

Bad for the twins. Looks like they mentally imploded 2nd set.

C'mon man. Todd Reid also won junior Wimbledon and was an atrocious player and even winning an Olympic medal back then you'd have to asterisk as a lot of top players didn't participate. I believe George Bastl also beat Sampras at Wimbledon and he was nothing more than a journeyman. I guess what I'm saying is that "doubles specialists" are such because they can't cut it at the singles level, not because they chose doubles over singles.

I almost agree with you except the fact that Leander has beaten Pistol Pete when he was in full flow in 1998 not a journeyman...And all these are uncesssary argument as the fact remains its very very difficult to Bryan twins in Aussie Open where they are almost Unbeatable..Even top most singles player would find it hard and Hats off to Leander and Stepanek for the same :worship::worship::worship:
