Why do we love Alex?HybridTheory 10-19-2004, 03:49 PM Why do you like Alex, and when did you become a fan?? :) JaredPalmerFan 10-19-2004, 04:21 PM I have been a fan of Alex for TEN years! Although i've never met him or seen him live on court etc... we all know how much of a sweetheart he is off court and how much on court he is a fighter. I just adore him and how much of a Gentleman he is. Its a rare find to see someone like that and be a natural at it ~ nothing fake about him at all. Love Jac HybridTheory 10-19-2004, 04:24 PM wow 10 years is really long :D and I totally agree with you about what you say about him :) HybridTheory 10-19-2004, 04:25 PM Where are you from, by the way? :) (I don't recognize your country flag ) JaredPalmerFan 10-19-2004, 07:57 PM Yeah, ten long years *lol* This is when I really started to watch tennis on TV as much as I could *hehe* I'm from the Isle of Man which is a small independant island between Ireland and England. Jac deflori 10-19-2004, 09:22 PM iam since i was 15,so 6 Years it must be...... I love Alex on the court, because i love the art of tennis he play.He is the biggest Fighter, the biggest Topspinner,a big gentleman and just one of the biggest players ever......... Situations like against dewulf(where he overruled at matchpoint for dewulf) speak for himself........ vamos alex vamos: ) HybridTheory 10-20-2004, 12:46 PM Nice story :) I knew about that match against Dewulf, but not that he did it on matchpoint, that's really sweet of him :) HybridTheory 10-20-2004, 02:51 PM Yeah, ten long years *lol* This is when I really started to watch tennis on TV as much as I could *hehe* I'm from the Isle of Man which is a small independant island between Ireland and England. Jac :) I think I know the name, but that's it ;) is the flag you have on your profile the flag of your island? JaredPalmerFan 10-20-2004, 08:04 PM Yep, thats is my country flag ~ the Three Legs of Mann :) Jac RogiFan88 10-20-2004, 08:25 PM Because Alex understands how tough it is to be a tennis player and he supports what Federer, Roddick and Moya have done by withdrawing from Madrid. Alex is one of the friendliest players out there. Alex is a very smart tennis player. Alex speaks several languages, again showing his higher intelligence! Alex is "worth it" as he said in his L'Oreal TV ad from Spanish TV... "Y yo lo valgo" Alex has a great sense of humour in any language Alex can win on clay, outdoor hardcourt and indoor. Alex has won the year-ending championship, in Hannover 98. Alex beat Agassi, Sampras and the then French Open champ Moya to win that championship. ... more to come! RogiFan88 10-20-2004, 08:27 PM Yep, thats is my country flag ~ the Three Legs of Mann :) Jac COOL you're fr the Isle of Man! ;) and you're a Jared Palmer fan! I call him the "Arantxa guy"! JaredPalmerFan 10-20-2004, 11:25 PM Now, you know i'm gonna ask why you call him that, huh??? *hehe*I rarely see him play though. Too much focus on singles *LOL* I believe he married last year *sigh**hehe* BTW, only ONE of my Spaniards won today ~ Verdasco! That's what I get for being excited for all my players winning Tuesday *grin* Still, Verdasco, Dent, Haas and Agassi left ~ so it ain't all bad. And Safin is cool too! Jac RogiFan88 10-21-2004, 01:13 AM YOu know that Jared and Arantxa won the USO mixed dbles a few years ago -- what a cool team they were! Great players and great people! HybridTheory 10-21-2004, 07:49 AM To be honest, I actually don't know this guy, Jared Palmer :o Where is he from, and does he also play singles? Action Jackson 10-21-2004, 08:38 AM Jared Palmer is American, and is a doubles specialist. As for when I became a fan, the thing is with these questions I tend come across as bragging when I answer them, but I will try not to this time, though no promises. I heard the name Corretja from a friend of mine, and he had high hopes for him, and that was when Alex was playing juniors. My first experience of seeing Alex play live was Monte Carlo 1993, as I heard the name and he was playing another favourite of mine Marc Rosset, so I decided to check out this match and was not disappointed. The thing that impressed me most about Corretja was his fighting spirit, court speed and his consistency, the fact that Rosset won the 1st set and that he remained very calm, then he ended up winning the match in a 3rd set tiebreaker and I wasn't disappointed with the result, and he won me over with this match. He got chopped by Muster in the next round, but I was impressed with Alex and then decided to follow his results more closely, and he became a favourite of mine. Fortunately I have had the experience of talking to Alex on many occasions, and as RF so eloquently put all the reasons to why he is so likeable. He is down to earth, loves the Barca football team, speaks English, Spanish, Catalan and French very well, tactically intelligent, and he doesn't forget people either once they are known to him. HybridTheory 10-21-2004, 02:24 PM Thank you George! :wavey: and welcome to our board ;) RogiFan88 10-22-2004, 01:16 AM Hi there, George, been missing you! Hope all is well! HybridTheory 10-22-2004, 10:55 AM Because Alex understands how tough it is to be a tennis player and he supports what Federer, Roddick and Moya have done by withdrawing from Madrid. Here I found something from my travels to the Aus Open in Jan. It's slightly edited, I will post all of the stuff related to Alex during this tournament. This was during the days before the tournament. Corretja and Gaudio were both practicing, how great it was for me as I happen to like both of them . It was a bit warm so I sat in the shade and watched them play, and David (Mallorcan friend) was telling me about the Davis Cup when Argentina should have won. He likes Gaudio style of play, but doesn't like him too much. They were hitting quite well, though Gaudio seemed to have a problem of moving forward to finish the points. After training I spoke with Gaudio for about five minutes, I met him before and having a distinctive appearance has its advantages. Then I spoke with Corretja for some time as well, before he had to have a shower, he is definiely one of the nicest guys on tour, and hopefully he can do some good work again, bu it will be tough. Alex as usual had the better of Gaudio even in the practice sets. YooT0PIA 11-03-2004, 08:59 PM the first match i saw him play was when he defeated thomas enqvist in indian wells 2000. a great match which showcased the speed and tenacity of his former self. i did recently watch him play sargisian in the first round of the u.s. open. he imploded, launching balls and breaking a racket which he through into the crowd. i love his grinding spirit, creativity, footwork, and of course his solid backhand. i hope he can get it together and make one more run. if only he could stop pulling up on that forehand of his... amarantha 11-04-2004, 02:14 AM because without him I would never have become a tennis freak because he is a real gentleman all the time he respects all hios opponents whoever they are because he has a very sexy spanish accent when he speaks French :p Corredian's_Mind 12-10-2004, 04:31 PM because in many way he helped me even if i have never seen him. well he's a sort of model and not only in tennis, hes fair play, he respects his opponents... hes got a great game ( a good backhands!) he won the davis cup in 2000 he won the master cup whereas he was only 24 he loves france and i agree with samarantha, such a sexy spanish accent when he speaks french! :D hum in fact i love him just because he is him! :) he speaks several language HybridTheory 12-13-2004, 09:48 AM Very good ones Emmanuelle  HybridTheory 12-14-2004, 09:21 AM Because of his funny faces when he hits a ball :p Because he makes tennis a lot more interesting Because he is from SPAIN :tape:  Because he makes me laugh many times (by mooning Fed and such things ;)) Because of his great personality Because of him I know you all Because he's so nice to fans even if he just lost a match :yeah: Because he's got the best fans! :p  Because in 2002 he stayed at Roland Garros to support Albert in the final :) Because he won the "Who's got the best butt in tennis"- poll on ATPworld forum  Because he won the Stefan Edberg award twice Because he likes FC Barcelona ;) Because without him this thread couldn't even exist .....
