Who will end a title drought in 2012?

There are a number of players on the tour that have won titles before but havent won anything else since their maiden title.Which of these players do you think can end that drought in 2012?

kei nishikori - hasnt won a title since his maiden title in 2008 but did make 2 finals this year

philipp petzschner - like kei won his first title in 2008 but hasnt won any singles titles since. Did make the final in halle this year

juan monaco - hasnt won a title since 2007 when he won 3, since then has gone 0-7 in finals including valencia this year.

xavier malisse - hasnt won a title since 2007, did make the final in chennai this past year though

ivo karlovic - hasnt won a title since 2008 and has only made one final, which he lost to ernests gulbis last year

james blake - hasnt won a title since 2007 and hasnt made a final since 2009

igor kunitsyn - won his maiden singles title in 2008 but has yet to make a final since

jarkko nieminen - he won his first title back in 2006 and since then has gone 0-6 in finals, he's 1-10 overall. He did make a final this year

steve darcis - won 2 titles in 2008, hasnt made a final since

victor hanescu - won his first title again in 2008 but hasnt won anything since. he has been very consistent in making at least 1 final every year since 2007 so can he finally win a 2nd title this year?

I guess Monaco has the biggest chance from the list to win something but I can imagine Nishikori, Petzschner or Karlovic too.

Blake twice on the poll? Boy, he should be a major force in 2012 after the recent threads :scared:

voted for Monaco, he was good in Valencia, and can win something on clay this year

Nice thread. :yeah:

Nishikori, Monaco and Karlovic have to be the leading contenders imo.

Kei had an incredible finish to 2011, and should challenge for another title in 2012, although he has committed to a tough schedule in the first quarter. Brisbane boasts a strong field, and it looks like he is playing South American clay in February?! Assuming he sees sense and commits to the likes of Delray Beach, Houston etc he'll get a better chance.

Monaco also had a strong finish to 2011, but he really struggles for consistent results. Good chance to win something early in 2012, being one of the front-runners in Auckland and top seed in Vina del Mar.

Karlovic is still a threat, and he is likely to enter enough weaker 250 events to give himself a shot.

Petzschner - talented player, but a nutter. Will threaten on grass, and in weak indoor events, but always questionable whether he can repeat that Vienna triumph.

Kunitsyn - did well to win in Russia a few years ago, but I never really had him down as title-winning material. I still don't.

Darcis - see comments on Petzschner and Kunitsyn.

Malisse, Blake, Nieminen and Hanescu are past it imo. Nieminen is the more likely to win a title out of this group, although he is limited really to indoor events, and needs the weaker draws. Malisse and Hanescu are both questionable players - mentally, physically, and as regards motivation. Blake's game is still as big as ever, but he cannot manage the same consistency as he used to. Surfaces are slower/balls heavier, and the game is more physical - both bad news for him.

Monaco and Nieminen will both win titles this year, but Monaco is more likely so voted for him

I would like to see Kei Nishikori win a title next year. He was very good.

Nishikori will likely win an USA tournament, perhaps Delray Beach or L.A. He could also win St.Petersburg/Moscow if he goes to Russia at the end of the season. From the others, Monaco should win one of the titles of the S.A swing.

Nieminen has a chance tomorrow

I guess this question has been answered quickly enough

Well ignoring Nieminen, Kei looks the most likely. However i can also see Karlovic powering through a 250 event at some point in the year.

You left GOAT Andrey Golubev off the list. :(

Maybe Ollie Rochus can end his title drought of 5 years :sobbing:

The most probable is Nisikori to me. I expect Blake to win something before he retires too.
