What does it mean that he withdrew because of 'personal reasons'? Does it mean family problems?

I read somewhere that the withdrawal can be due to illness of his mother (cancer is suspected).

Shame, he seemed to have finally got his fitness together, was looking capable of having one last good season. After all he's been through, would be nice to see him go out with a bang.

That is really sad to hear.

Don't believe things that someone read "somewhere" about some supposed illness. That is how rumours start. No one knows anything about why Blake is not playing AO.

Djokovic actually has a chance to defend his title now. What a lucky guy.

Blake was always a mug, no big loss.

Damn bro, Nadal had a losing record to this mug?

Sad for Blake, but I'm not sure if he'll ever get back to any sort of form :/ If he can get back to top 30, I'd be really happy

Granted, a knee injury is still a "personal problem," but why couldn't they have just reported that he had a knee injury?

:rolleyes: Did anyone, least of all James consider himself a favourite for the titles?

James Blake was only the title favourite if in the unlikely case Tennis Australia are not going to give Alex Bogdanovic a wildcard
