Pablo Cuevas in 2013? Comeback begins in Santos

I love to watch his game and hope he can rediscover the form he had earlier this year. He had a great first part of the year, but missed the second half. But for me he was one of most promising players at about March or April. He is now outside the top 100, but he's only defending a few tournaments. I think he can get into seeded-at-Slam status if he plays anywhere near a full season the way he was playing this year. He's not on AO entry list though and I'm unsure when he's returning. Do you think he will be able to come back in 2012 and rise in the rankings?

Cuevas has a new coach, he just needs to get fit play some challengers to get back into the groove. Improve his forehand as for being seeded at Slams. Troicki should give hope to players outside of the top 32 some hope.

Hopefully he'll have at least one good slam next year at last ffs.

I'm sure he will be top 30 for some time in his career, not sure if in 2012.

Cuevas is on the Entry List for Acapulco, Indian Wells qualies but very unlikely to play them. Seems like Monte Carlo will be his comeback.

Would be better to play some challengers as well.

He has a PR of 54.

he can win at least as many slams as rafa

My main question about him would not be about his ranking but : when and how will he come back ?

he has been out for a very long time now.

He tried to come back for Davis cup, he was in the team but didn't play any match eventually (his team with his younger brother especially could win without him), how is he now ?

As for his ranking, he can probably be top-30 but probably rather in 2013, this year will be more difficult.

Guys, may I ask, what happened to Pablo? There are no info's about him for a while now...

Cuevas had another knee surgery and will be on crutches for another 4 weeks. He is doing all the kinesiology, pool and gym work he can, so he is out indefinitely. Might be lucky and play the South American Challs at the end of the year.

I miss him. Lovely game.

Well, I hope to see him in the next season playing his great tennis again. Thanks for info AJ.

Adjusted the title and Pablo is going to play Gaudio on Jan 3 in the Punta del Este exho. Yes, Roddick will be playing del Potro in the other match.

Hope Cuevas can actually play it.

Yeah, I saw that. I'm surprised, and I don't want to be given false hope.

I was informed last month that February 2013 was his new target return date, so that implies to me that this exhibition will be much less than semi-serious, if he makes it on court.

thanks for the news : as far as southAmerican players are concerned, do you have any news about Schwank ? he's not on any of the entry-lists we've had so far.

I also wondered what his intentions are : trying to come back in singles or play more doubles ?

You know it's bad when you can simply change the year in the title of an injury thread...

:) good news, great news indeed!
but his schedule is crazy, he will use SR ranking for RG main draw and will be playing futures less than 1 month before

Great to see him back. I also love his playing style with his monster kick serve and stylish one handed backhand.

I have soft spot for Uruguayan tennis players as I also liked Filippini, Felder and Vilarrubi as well.

Very happy about this news.

Best of luck for Pablo during his comeback :yeah:
I read his PR will be 54 (if my memory is correct, you can check in the forum's player part)

I think the idea of playing a Futures is to get some points before RG.

Talking of other Uruguayan players, I hope his brother can sort himself out now. At 17-18 he was said to have more potential than Pablo at that age. He won a scholarship to Fwrrero's academy but couldn't afford to go. His career best ranking was 560 and it is now 1300+

Pablo Cuevas is finally back to the circuit! :yeah:

Santos Main Draw - WC for Pablo Cuevas :worship::

Cuevas in the quarters of Sao Paulo, good to see his body seems to be holding up.

07-29-2014, 05:26 PM
Well despite a thread I titled "Pablo Cuevas in 2012" it turned out it was 2014 before he could play anything like a full season :tape: but that season has been extremely successful.

07-29-2014, 05:30 PM
I guess we all remember this match vs Roddick not long before his long injury break, where he won almost every rally and saved tennis. :worship:

He's playing in his 19th event of the year right now. I hope he takes it easy for a bit, wouldn't want to get injured again…
