Well, it all depends on who is the host. Search for Christopher Walken SNL or Justin Timberlake SNL.

There's a SNL sketch that I wish I had fully anywhere: Christopher Walken in "The Continental".

Greece won today also despite it was a useless match for both, looks like they really want to defend the title ;)

cant wait for Euro2008, it's less prestigious than WC but surely the level of the teams is better since there arent teams like China, Costa Rica and so on

No way, we will not even come close. I am surprised that Greece won today, it was more like a friendly. EURO 2008 will be interesting indeed, will a big team win this time or it will be another upset?

yeah as you can see I have a big fat chat thread, that's why I don't have usually time to post in other ones

Greece football totally sucks, it is only a question of players consistently overachieving and the coach playing a style that maximizes our chances. Greek basketball on the other hand... :ras:

Genci was waiting half an hour for me in the cold at night in front of my hotel then I appeared and he was probably for ripping me for being awfully late, so I just kissed him on a cheek and made wait another 20 minutes because needed to change clothes and make-up, and text the mates I 'fucking want him' :haha:

Well, after you packed JMDP, Gulbis, Korolev and Mannarino (my children :D) to top 10 next year I am not asking you about the definition of overachieving.

However I think, Greece in football is just such a definition. I don't see overachieving in tennis even if I don't like Agassi or Nadal, but Euro 2004 surely was something like that.

First 1997 was a year were legends Dewulf and Woodridge made the semis and Rudeski made the final of a GrandSlam

1 SAMPRAS, PETE
On hardcourt, sure, but not a chance on clay.
2 RAFTER, PATRICK
Same as Sampras
3 CHANG, MICHAEL
Not a chance on clay, Chang only beat 1 player in the top 40 on clay, Goran and hes not a clay court magician or anything. On hardcourt, Michael won everything at the beginning of the year but by the end he was losing to the likes of Jonathon Stark. I will give you this one on hardcourts though cuz Im a generous guy, even though I believe results here would be split.
4 BJORKMAN, JONAS
He had some game on hardcourts but he also lost to Julian Alonso and Chris Wilkinso(ranked 223). On clay he is a clown. Robredo is at least equal.
5 KAFELNIKOV, YEVGENY
Stunk on clay, Robredo is better on clay, on hardcourts, he was a lot like Tommy, never really beat the best, but did well enough against the others. Robredo is at least equal.
6 RUSEDSKI, GREG
Clown from Canada, but he was actually good that year. Hardcourts, hed probably win but not on clay.
7 MOYA, CARLOS
Sure maybe on clay. Hardcourts they are equal
8 BRUGUERA, SERGI
Probably on clay
9 MUSTER, THOMAS
Probably on clay
10 RIOS, MARCELO
11 KRAJICEK, RICHARD
Probably on Hardcourts
12 CORRETJA, ALEX

I was gonna answer to them all but its ridiculous, if you want to know specifically why not about others than ask.

Rafter would also beat Robredo on clay, it is a matchup issue and 97 was the year Rafter gave his heart out at RG. Gu, we agree on Kafelnikov, "doubtful" is my way of making an understatement.

Sampras would need his backhand to beat Robredo on clay, up to 97 he would win easily. Obviously, taking into account that Robredo lost to Rusedski on clay, Sampras would have chances even in his late years.

Well he did lose to Magnus Norman, who was decent later in his career, career high of 2, which is pretty good obviosuly but at RG97 he was ranked 65th so not exactly the cream of the crop.

Robredo already has 3 QFs, one were he lost to the best player of alltime(Roger). He is still young enough that its not hard to believe that he could make the semis.

Boredo is probably top 10-15 on clay, but shouldn't be any higher than 25 on fast surfaces.

I remember the week he made top 10 and semi-retired Rusedski toppled him, that was hilarious :haha:

Actually if Sampras had his prime in 2007, I can see him being the 2nd best claycourter together with Federer.

Sampras's game wasn't amazing for clay, but his serve, talent and toughness was enough to beat every loser claycourter.
Still he lost to Galo Blanco and it was my first won bet ever :D

Federer isn't a good claycourter. He would be beaten by the likes of Corretja, Berasategui, Bruguera all the time in the 90s, and more: I think he'd even lose to journeymen like Meligeni (remember, he has lost to Mantilla already).

The problem is that Igor has a shaky serve, and his backhand is an UE machine. Federer would win probably 90% of the serves to Igor's BH and any deep ball to Andreev's BH is gonna result in an UE or in a short ball.

The new junior generations aren't just so great. I mean, we have these crazy 1988s but they mainly play well on hard court.

13 KORDA, PETR
14 KUERTEN, GUSTAVO

15 IVANISEVIC, GORAN
Probably on Hardcourts
16 MANTILLA, FELIX

19 COSTA, ALBERT
20 PIOLINE, CEDRIC
21 COURIER, JIM
22 NORMAN, MAGNUS

I was gonna answer to them all but its ridiculous, if you want to know specifically why not about others than ask.

This makkes 6 that were probably better on hardcourts and 4 on clay courts. He would easily be top 10 as he is competant on ech surface and wouldnt win a whole lot of yournaments but would consistantly do well.

How many of them did you actually watch play? There are plenty of that list that would beat Robredo on clay. Rios would beat him anywhere except maybe grass.

He should ask Stich for a picture so that he could hang it above his 96 trophy, there was no way Kafelnikov would win over Muster.

And in 97 he lost to the following legends on clay: Dewulf (56), Rosset, Hrbaty(50), Craca(135), Ruud(48), Larsson(42), Schaller(83)

Great understanding of claycourt tennis you have there. Especially at that particular time.

Rosset and Hrbaty played very well against Kafelnikov, just like Karlovic and Arthurs did get against Boredo. Yes, the match up issue.

Larsson was a very good player on all surfaces but grass, he'd have troubled Boredo because of the huge serve and forehand from the baseline and had a lot of feel to bring Boredo the net and expose that. Larsson would be favoured indoors and hardcourt to beat Boredo and would beat him on clay though not as often on faster surfaces.

Andreev well his backhand isn't that bad when he decides to hit one, it's just he hardly ever uses it. It was funny when he beat Roddick on hardcourts and he was hitting backhand down the line winners.

One thing these players today don't do and what Bruguera did and did very well at his peak when playing big servers, use the block return deep. Sergi used it well especially against Sampras.

Igor with the forehand could easily trouble Federer but he'd have to get it in the right spots and have slightly warmer conditions to get a higher bounce.

I remember that Acasuso match, he started to hit winners from everywhere and also being a bit more patient, allowing Roddick to usually hit an error because he hasn't got the patience on clay.

I was kinda shocked because Chucho isn't known for his mental fortitude, but he came through that impressively and Roddick was a big scalp given his brain cramps, even if it was on clay.

Roddick was trying to moonball Chucho, yes moonballing a guy who is 1.95m is very smart.

Chucho can get like that and hitting some backhands down the line, he shits himself in big matches generally, though in Davis Cup he has been better. Only lost serve to Safin once in that 5th match last year, but couldn't get it done.

Safin has been painfully average for a while now but in Davis Cup he has always been an iron man.

Chucho beat Hewitt, that was a great victory and I remember whenever Hewitt made an unforced error or dumped it into the net the crowd were going crazy and mocking him.

I wonder what welcome the Brits are going to get? Winning one rubber would be an achievement.

If the Brits win a set then that is worth a party alone.

Gu is right about Federer on clay. Funny some people get all pissed off when you mention that Federer while very good on clay, isn't as great as the results make out.
