Why's Mathieu playing, despite not having played for around 14 months?

Because he is healthy again and wants to continue his carreer?

Just guessing.

I just can´t understand why Martin Klizan doesn´t want to play Australian Open. Courts are slow as hell, and this would suits his game perfectly.

He just doesn´t like playing in Australia, but it is very unprofessional from him, even he would play only qualification.

He is on the Alternates list.

But he won´t be playing Australian Open. I wouldn´t say it, if it wasn´t true.

He told it to Slovak newspapers last week, he don´t like it there and he will be playing just Doha qualificaton and Heilbronn challenger then.

Doesn't mention Mayer (this was posted about an hour ago) so I don't think he will withdraw (or at least not now, I mean he only withdrew today from Sydney, doesn't mean he's out of Melbourne as well) tomorrow or so except if the injury is really bad.
