Choosing the biggest facepalm of 2011

We're choosing the thing that has caused the biggest mischief and facepalm in the world of tennis in 2011. I guess I should give some picks to help you with making up your mind, but I'm sure you can think of it yourself.

For me it was when a top 20 (or whatever was his ranking a few weeks ago, similar to that) Feliciano Lopez after making a semifinal in Shanghai Masters went to Orleans to play a challenger for appearance fee. Once he got it, he peacefully lost in R1.

1. Troicki choking.

2. Montanes being too much of a mug against injured Fognini.

3. Murray and #3 fiasco.

Albert Costa selecting Lopez/Verdasco to play the DC final, when they are 3-17 on their last 20 matches as a doubles team, when he had an in-form Granollers available and Nadal for example is a big contender for the biggest facepalm of 2011.

Especially, when they lost on a similar situation in the SF against Llodra/Tsonga by 6-1 6-2 6-0! :haha:

I think it is not the coin toss per say but deciding to receive after winning it.

Because if he had decided to serve, the whole scoreline would have been the opposite.

Roger was too good. Djokovic was losing no matter what he did. Roger was just too good on the day. It wasn't bad at all and it even ended Djokovic's run, which is also a plus.

like Muzza:)
Apart from his brainfart spring, he didn't get bad opponents. Djokovic, however, even when he got high ranked opponents, they all ended up playing horrible, except for a few matches (Murray in Rome for example). Djokovic got a 7 tournament streak of winning against awful opponents. That's the biggest facepalm of the season, followed by Fognini in RG.

For me probably Troicki match against Murray in RG. Combined with the body language from both players and some classic fail moments like the ballkid incident and it's a winner.

Off court maybe that Bryan Bros incident they got a $10k fine for after their USO exit. Always a huge facepalm to go after officals no matter what sport

Whatever was going on in Robin Haase's head in the fourth and beginning of the fifth sets of the Murray match.

Roger having two match points against Novak in the semis of the US Open two years in a row - and losing both matches.

Almost anything Verdasco did this year, culminating with that doubles match in the DC final. Good thing Spain won or else I'd really question why he was even on the court when his doubles play (with or without Lopez - see: DC match vs Bryans) has been atrocious.

Everyone who believed that Gulbis would finally become an elite player after his run in LA - and then doing absolutely nothing the rest of the year.
