Epic meltdown from Raonic, losing from 7-6 4-2* 30-0 up, really enjoyed it.

Monfils = Tennis

Terrible choke from Milos in the 2nd set, totally collapsed on his serve.

Monfils almost handed the match to Milos then performed an epic comeback. Good match by Milos too, great week.
I was totally wrong with predictions during the match :haha:

Two different levels from Milos here, before the second set break and after the break. Huge drop in level, fatigue maybe? Monfils did well to win this, but he never was in control of this match, it was all on Milos' racket. Hope Monfils can win tomorrow though.

Maybe there is a method to Monfils' madness. But he still nearly lost to Tomic and Raonic, after having lost to Young, so I'd be weary on counting on him in any other matches.

despite the choke, still a pretty good match from Milos.
It's not like Monfils was clowning around. he actually played some good aggressive tennis

Monfils-Murray Paris Final ;)

Well it wasn't a bad match. Monfils had like 56 winners. Many of them lobs, volleys, FH bombs and all kinds of shots. Raonic had plenty of winners too but not the same variety.

For the tournament a Monfils final is great. He might be an injury waiting to happen with his style but the showmanship and his "gifts" ensures an interesting final against Nieminen

Very poor stuff mentally from Milos. I expected more of him. He just fell apart at 7-6 4*-3 30-15. Extremely un-clutch. I mean, even if he got broken he should've concentrated and at least forced another tiebreak.

Hey, these things happen to the best. Great that Milos can compete so well against a top 10 player. Monfils didn't look amazing, but played alright and took the opportunity when Milos stopped serving well, which is what you have to do to beat him.

Still, I can't help but feel this result is more a positive for Milos than it is for Gael. The youngsters are catching up to the latter part of the the top 10.. fast.

Milos really threw that match away from a winning position. 7-6 4-2 30-0........ :( Hopefully he will keep the momentum going from this week and not let that scenario happen again.

He had sooo many little chances in that 2nd set to go up a double break, but he got too excited and missed some sitters!

he did plenty of clowning, including a between the legs volley on a crucial break point:rolleyes:

I really thought Raonic would wrap it up in straights when he was up a set and a break halfway the second set. But once his serve started to falter he just... went away :o. Not the best mindset but excusable for a youngster I guess.

Congrats to Monfils but truth be told - he did nothing special, apart from his usual clownery on court of course. He'll have to do a lot better tomorrow as the Shark looked Sharp today. :)

That was probably the best play there. It would have been an insanely difficult normal volley.

not really. Routine stuff for anyone remotely adequate at the net.

He really won't. Without the clowning he actually played pretty well, and he'll have plenty of chances on Nieminem's serve to offset his clowning and win in straits, contrary to today.

But then again this is Monfils in a final, so anything could happen really.

By the way Monfils is still the clown he always was, but at least he's getting really fun to watch now, and not just once every 20 points. Nice variety and attacking game mixed in with his defence.

Raonic is like Isner, narrow margins. Guess he needs more matches.

good to see raonic back in the mix... not quite back just yet, as he was closing these ones with ease pre-injury...

still, reasonably quick resurgence...

Agree that the better player won, but can't disagree more re: Raonic.

Their needs to be a height limit in tennis, so more Raonics and Isner stop destroying the game.

Expected. Raonic is an all serve clown with no game. Monfils is a talented all around player with every shot in the book. Tennis wins today and I hope the Frenchman can clinch the title here.

lol do some research please.
Raonic is 6'5 which is the same height as Berdych and is shorter than Del Potro and Cilic. There are lots of players around have a height of 6'4-6-5. But not too many above.

Isner, Ivo, Anderson, belong in the same group in terms of height imo

Seems like a compliment to Milos. At an age of 20, has completely no game and still able to have a top 30 ranking despite the injuries. The future definitely looks bright.

Topspindoctor is the real clown here. Obviously doesn't watch much of Milos, who's forehand is one of the best in the tour and moves well for a big guy.

this is a very shocking result, Milos probably should have won this considering the speed of the court and the style of play that Monfils has. bizarre
