Simone has a pretty decent draw. Winning the title is the only option here to have any shot at making the AO. Hopefully, he can make it happen. At the very least, he can get a high seed in AO qualifying if he wins here and position himself to make the top 100 early next season.

The courts in Ortisei are really quick, maybe the quickest of the whole year.
Thats why Petzsche has a good shot at winning the title, even though each match will be decided only by a few points.

The only reason Simone lost is because Dustov got lucky in the second set tiebreaker with a letcord. He should have won in straight sets. This result is disgusting and sad, and the tournament is now officially boring as hell.

What I don't understand is why Dustov had more support than Simone did, in an Italian event.

Bolelli has so much potential, but awful results like this seem to be regular, its not even funny. I dont really care for Simone, no more...

Now without Bolelli, this field seems really more open for Lukas Lacko. He had a tough R1 opponent in Dancevic, but he survived in good battle. He has DelBonis in R2 and potentially winner of Hernych/Dustov in R3. Now, after tough win against Dancevic, everything else but at least SF is absolutely unacceptable for Lacko. Take care of your business, Lukas!

Delbonis d. Lacko 6-4, 7-6.

Wel, this is another embarrassing loss for Lukas. I had to underestimate Delbonis... The thing is, Southamericans are not that good indoors, but this is probably another story. Now I remember that I have seen Delbonis once this year on the clay and he was a huge server also there. Lacko had only one breakpoint during the whole match and Argentinian saved it with an ace. Everytime Lukas could come close, it came an ace from the other side... Also during the tiebreak, Delbonis made only first serves everytime. Frustrating result.

Its the 1200 m altitude that's making this so fast. And I think they may be using the Tretorn Series+ balls , which adds more speed! This is a Bross Slide PVC carpet with rubber granules on top http://www.bross-tennis.com/PRODUCTS/slide01.html

So as far as carpets go - this is actually a little slower and more bounce. Add in the altitude and light ball and some of the bounces are ridiculous. Its brown like clay and some of the bounces look like clay.

Fastest conditions on tour - probably - why would the tournament use a fast ball and carpet in 1200m altitude?? Dont know except maybe they want the Challenger season over quick ...hehe

Same thing last week in Eckental - that surface actually a straight up pvc carpet - was slicker than this one - but only 300m and I think a HEad ball was used - heavier.

Anyway, the Challenger circuit is getting quicker as the ATP circuit gets slower

Inspite of Hernych is a dangerous player and he likes this sort of surfaces (plus indoor) it's quite surprising to see him beating Petzschner though. Ram took advantage of an easy draw. There isnt a clear favourite to win here.

Ram 80/91 (88%) service points won against Kravchuk in SF.

I haven't been following this tournament real closely, obviously this court is faster than any ATP events, but is this the fastest court on all of challenger tour? I'd imagine so, as the stats of servers are flat out ridiculous in some matches.

Luinir

His baseline game just isn't there yet and probably will never be but i'm not complaining since i'm having a lot fun while watching Rajeev. He reminds me of 90's tennis. When he plays in a big event on center court, Sampras, Ivanisevic, Edberg etc. coming into my mind. Simply a nostalgic player and deserves to be in top 100. So we can see him in big events much more.

Actually after winning Newport title, probably he didn't make enough hard-work and played awful for a long time but you can clearly see that he had some good tournaments this year and showed what he's able to do. Top class serve, nice volleying, serve and volley, chip and charge... He looks like Sampras when he's doing these things but his forehand and backhand are weak which is unfortunate. I don't wait to create damage from him with his one-handed backhand, he can slice from that side but forehand should be much better if he works on it. He simply has the power but that swing is weird.

Anyway, he's doing great since last week. Bagged his first title since 2 years and he can get back-to-back titles if he beats Jan. (i believe, he will!) Title in here will take him into top 150. Then 2012 could be a nice year for him. I am hungry to see Rajeev in top 100 next year in advence! Best of luck for him.

Hard worked victory for Ram 7-6(8-6 in the 3rd set). He has a nice serve and volley game but that`s all. He chocked serving for the match at 5-3 in the 3rd set and served well at 5-6 in the tie break + a good forehand winner to win his 2nd CH title in a row. Hernych has good resources but he is not mentally strong enough to raise up to a different level at this stage of his career. It was a nice final to watch.
