How many?

If I was betting on it, I'd say 1. But he can still likely win 2-3 more if he just gets lucky with Djokovic and Nadal losing in early rounds, or even just Nadal losing in early rounds because if Federer knows he won't have to face Nadal in the finals, he will be going into semifinals with Djokovic full on and probably pull of another RG'11 performance in there.

It is difficult for him to be consistently brilliant over a best of five set match nowadays because his legs are failing him and his fitness is not where it was when he was arguably the fittest player in the sport. We will see his magic at the best of three set WTF at the 02 arena but we have to admit there is less than a fifty per cent chance of him winning another slam.

Considering Nadal has been in 6 of the last 7 slam finals and is only going to be more motivated now that he's lost the last 2 slam finals, I think Federer's only chance is if Nadal tears a muscle like at 2011 AO.

Will he have a different mentality next year? 2012 will be the first time he starts a season past the threshold of thirty years of age. In theory he should now be able to play without feeling any pressure. It is not as if he has anything to prove.

Because of this I think it will make it a tad easier to win a few more before he calls it quits.

To suggest Federer was lucky to win their RG match ignores the sensational serving that Federer had to pull out of the bag to win that fourth set. I don't remember Djokovic taking the match to a final set and having match points

Federer still has a slam or two in him at the very least. Even though he's 30, its not as old as people are making out, even for a tennis player. It would be stupid to write him off, its not as if he's going out in the first week of slams. He's been competative against the top players this year at these tournaments, on his day he still can beat any one and still will for another good few years at least.

One more. I think Wimbledon or USO--more inclined to think USO since he's had MPs in the last two years to get into the final, whereas the last two years, he's struggled at Wimbledon.

I'll go with 1.

I wouldn't be stunned if he didn't win another slam, but odds are he will in my opinion.

He definitely played well enough in the slams to win one this year, but didn't capitalize in big matches.

It's sad Kuerten was hardly a tennis player at 30.
Two tournaments entered, two beatdowns from mugs. Legend.

Federer might win 1 more owing to Djokovic or Nadal getting upset along the way. But can hardly see him win more than that. Djokovic and Nadal are just better. Deal with it.

I sure hope that 24 and 25 year old Djokovic and Nadal respectively are better than 30 year old Federer or else we have a problem.

And the way I see it, Djokovic is not much of a threat to Federer racking up slams as much as Nadal is, except on Australian Open. It's always 50-50 on Djokovic-Federer matches. Nadal is the only one Federer has a complex with.

MIMIC

Depends on how many times he can avoid Nadal and Djokovic. My guess is 1.

Not in grandslams which is what this topic is about, Federer is the last guy to beat Djokovic in grandslam so far and held match points against him in the latest one that Djokovic won. Federer just doesn't have a complex about Djokovic, I always give him 50% or more chance against Djokovic in slams. While with Nadal, I'll just give Federer about 20% chance.

I don't know...Of course Roger is not 25 anymore, but he is not the kinda player who needs to outlast his opponent physically in order to win. Of course most of his career is behind him, but only 1 or 0 Grand Slams from now? I think you guys might be pushing it a little...

his stamina is shit these days....if any of his matches goes to 5th set he is in problems...also if you think Nadal,Djokovic or even Murray win matches by only outlasting their opponents than you are an idiot

"Only" is a big word...they are all great players but if you take Nadal for example, When he is 30 and can't get to those hopeless shots because of physical weakness he is gonna be in a lot of trouble.
To be honest, the most interesting thing for me to see is how Federer handles (mentally) the position of being 2-0 up against players like Djoker. In RG and USO he really lost his concentration there for a while...might cause quite a problem.
