Not a good match. Wawrinka was just pushing and Murray was erratic. Epic racket smash from Stan in the third set though.

The only good thing was the racket smash. Andrew should cruise through this field of mugs.

Expected mediocre match from Murray. Started to get too clever at 5-0* in the 3rd where the other top players would have been ruthless and finished it off.

Should get better from here on in.

only saw the final set and Murray was terrible. Enough to do the job though but next match he needs that black shirt

Nothing special but new final is certain

Some tennis fatigue creeping in, but that's to be expected. Ton of match time and travel lately.

poor Stan. if only he could control his emotions a bit better... Murray was floundering there in the end. could have been different if Stan hadn't let it get to a double break.

I'm not sure how much Stan's back problem affected him; to me it looks like he always moves a bit awkwardly.

Does anyone in the top 50 fistpump as much as Murray?

Ferrer?

Though I guess he swears at himself more than he fistpumps. :p

Two things:

1) I'd like Murray a lot more (and I think a lot more people would) if his body language and overall manner wasn't so pathetic and negative.

2) WTF happened to Stan's backhand? That amazing shot that made him do so well at the AO this year? :tears:

Murray always seems to play close matches with Wawrinka

Murray and Wawrinka always seem to have close matches, and this was another one.

Murray didnt play his best but good enough to win which is what matters. He should have closed the set out at 5-1 but let Wawrinka back in for a bit before serving it out. Stiill, good win and he moves on, should make the final.

Indeed - and interestingly even when Wawrinka isn't playing that well. The old grit in the engine aspect of matchups.

You bet. Book it.

And here I woke up, saw Murray had won a close 3 setters (I went to be when he was up a set) and thought you all would be proclaiming his demise. And then I saw the results of the Nadal match.

Anyway, solid win against an opponent that has troubled him in the past, hopefully he rests up and focuses against his next opponent.

Can't believe this early in a Masters event that this is either Murray's to win or someone who's never won a Masters event before (wait, Roddick is still around.. as I said). No, Murray didn't play well but Wawrinka has been so off at times this year that the result wasn't really in doubt.

I don't know why people bother watching the tour if the only thing that concerns them is whether a player wins a slam or not. By that standard 99.5% of those who play on the tour are complete failures.

Its the easy stick for the forum morons to beat Murray with as his career as a whole is hugely commendable.

Having said that, with muzza its different as he is probably now the best player not to win a slam and it will hang heavy until he can make a breakthrough.

Still even if he doesn't, he can retire with tens of millions in earnings whilst the clowns here continue to dribble over their keyboards.

At this point Murray can play at 50% and will still cruise through this tournament.
Too many mugs around to blow this chance away.

Even tired, Andy is clearly tiers above the remaining players. Only Ferrer could pose a problem, but look what Andy did to him last week.

No, but he'd be a cinch for a slam with a sex change. Just a question of how bad he wants it.

I think Dolgo could be a handful but it depends on how hot he gets and how badly Andy plays.

Oh, I forgot about Dolgopolov. Depends on how he plays. If Andy is mediocre and Dolgopolov plays well, it'll be close. If Andy plays great, then Dolgopolov will lose, no matter how he plays.

Good win there for Murray, a step closer to winning this masters and securing world no.3. Wawrinka can be tough to beat on hard court. Impressive racquet smashing by wawrinka in the 3rd set though

Andy's slowly but surely becoming an Aussie Open favorite if Fed and Djok don't heal in time to be in form

If Donald played him again this year it'd be another beatdown I'd rather he face him again next year

The Murray streak has started. Murray is on his way to winning a major in 2012 :worship:.
