No moonballing or timewasting in this one, always good when Giraldo wins, in spite of the horrid 2nd serve and lazy footwork.

Mishit backhand goes at 5-5 in TB for Santi.

a prototypical match where challenge system really shines and can determine the rightful outcome of the match. Santi could've been hosed at 5-5 but replay got it right.

Great win for Giraldo. A few wasted opportunities for both players, but Santiago got it done in the end.

Melzer's backhand. :help:

Giraldo was playing crap till I stopped watching in the 2nd set, surprising result.

Phew, good win. An interesting-ish tiebreak, with Giraldo getting 2 aces in a row and that mishit return. Melzer's backhand was the weakness, it seemed. Went for too much.

OMFG! Just when you thought Melzer had it going a bit again, he gets this loss. What a joke.

He was 2-0 up in the 2nd and had 2 bps. It was all him at that time. But he broke down once again. Such a shame...

Lucky Giraldo at 5:5.
Great volleys from Melzer to (mini)-break back one point before. Too bad that it wasn't enough to win it.

Melzer was 6-4 4*-3, lost the game and let his mug wins the match.

Melzer dominated until he missed 4-5 breakpoints at 64 31*. After that he couldn't hit a backhand to save his life. Giraldo didn't really do much to turn the match, Melzer did it by himself. Disappointing loss.

Entertaining match and especially a tiebreak.Santi got overexcited near the end, celebration was a little bit over the top, Jurgen complained about it at the handshake and Colombian realized it and said that he is sorry.

Both made 107 points and the difference was that Giraldo at 2/2 and Melzer 2/9 in bps :help:

Seriously, this Giraldo couldn't get luckier with all the lines. http://imgsrv2.tennisuniverse.com/mtf/images/smilies/help.gif

But still, Melzer's BH is abysmal and deserves to lose to this mug.

Next year's RG champion is in danger of peaking too early. :(

I don't think it's absolutely beyond reason that Giraldo MIGHT one day win RG. It's not likely, but I say there's a shot

This is not an upset, Mugzer was always a clown, but a couple of fluke results last year, made him overranked. He's just coming back down to earth now
