I raised this question in the thread about Sao Paulo played indoors but on a clay court.
But the ATP-tournaments in Rio and Sao Paulo were played 1989-91 outdoors and on a carpet court? What the hell? That just sounds incredible. Or was it just another hardcourt and for some reason the ATP has once again made a mistake? A bit like with the Melbourne tournament where Pat Cash won in 82 and 83, beating exactly the same players with the exact same scores.
But I believa Brazil has even played some Davis Cup matches on outdoor carpet? So is this some kind of brazilian speciality?
