Qualifiers should be:

Young(unfortunately)

Petzschner

Bolelli

Ramos ?(i have no idea in this section)

Harrison

Ilhan :)

Capdeville?(again no idea)

Come on Harrison and Ramos :cheerleader:

Misty please!

Should be an easy 25 pts for Don. I don't expect him to make any noise in the main draw, though.

Filo V.
10-07-2011, 03:57 PM
Not at all pleased with the draw. Simone and Rendy are in the same section and Florent has a hard draw. The only positive for Florent is that Ebden is coming from Japan and a tough match v Ferrer after qualifying, so the fatigue factor can hopefully help him there.

Simone v Rendy absolutely sucks. I'd prefer Simone winning, but Lu probably would in that match-up. At least both should be able to pick up points in the first round of qualies.

Capdeville v Zemlja potentially also really sucks, because I don't want either in the top 100. I can only hope that they both lose in the first round of qualifying, but I doubt Zemlja will.

The one positive is that Gaba should have a good shot at qualifying, because I don't really see Harrison as an overly significant test.

Misty please!

Should be an easy 25 pts for Don. I don't expect him to make any noise in the main draw, though.

I can't make a definitive call on his MD chances until he gets there, but with the qualie draw he got means he should be playing on Tuesday

Filo V.

Young, Petzschner, Lu, De Voest, Gabashvili, Cipolla and Zemlja is who I think will qualify. But I can also see Kudryavtsev beating Petzschner for sure. The second section I can see all four players qualifying here.

I also think Matosevic beats Ilhan, and Cipolla beats Matosevic.

Wahhhh...someone doesnt like DY because he's American without a cookie cutter personality. So trendy to scoff at DY now that he's finally had some success.

Im not sure zverev would be a for sure win for DY.

Zverev is like a Bye for everyone this year. He should lose to Go :worship:

Filo V.
10-07-2011, 08:56 PM
Depends if Mischa Z. is actually back to playing decent tennis. If we're going on his form up to this point in the season, Zverev isn't beating Soeda.

Filo V.
10-07-2011, 08:56 PM
I hope Mischa Z. beats Soeda, though. Way more interesting talent and he has a lot to defend here.

Ramos has a great draw but i don't know if he'll take the chance
Harrison should qualify without any problems

My predictions are:

Young, Petzschner, Lu, Ramos, Harrison, Ilhan, Zemlja

Rajeev Ram.....enough said

Filo V.
10-07-2011, 10:07 PM
Cipolla will almost definitely routine Raji.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 04:48 AM
Cipolla 6-1 over Ram
Gabashvili 6-2 1-0 over Ma
Harrison 6-2 2-0 over Wu

All expected scorelines.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 04:49 AM
Only competitive match thus far is the Matosevic-Ilhan match. MM had a *2-1 40-30 lead and now it's on serve and both guys are mostly struggling to hold.

For a big guy, Matosevic is a very mediocre server.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 05:13 AM
Harrison def. Wu 6-2 6-0

Matosevic went from 3-3 40-15 to 3-6 0-*3. I don't really want Ilhan to qualify at all, but Matosevic is vile, so I don't care if he wins over the Aussie.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 05:13 AM
Gabashvili def. Ma 6-2 6-2

Three points lost on serve.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 05:42 AM
Cipolla def. Ram 6-1 6-4

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 05:44 AM
Donald isn't dominating Yani like many here probably expected him to.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 06:03 AM
Ramos 6-3 over Feng

Young-Yani tiebreaker first set

DYJBAA
10-08-2011, 06:09 AM
Young finally wins the 1st. I hope you got the Murray beating a
nd bagel out of your system cause it showed that set

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 06:34 AM
DY double faulting a lot. Seems like he's a little up and down today.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 06:35 AM
Ramos def. Feng 6-3 6-0

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 06:36 AM
Yani has actually won a higher percentage of service points overall. Don gave up the break lead he had in the second set and the match could get interesting now.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 06:41 AM
Yani had 30-0 and lost four straight points, double faulting on break point. Don now has a *4-3 second set lead, so hopefully he maintains the break this time.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 06:46 AM
De Voest def. Przysiezny 6-2 6-2

Only six points lost on serve and Polish Fed won 18% of second serve points.

DYJBAA
10-08-2011, 06:54 AM
He finally put Yani away. He needs more wins to get away from the Murray bagel

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 06:57 AM
Young def. Yani 7-6(2) 6-4

Zverev can beat him if he beats Soeda. I was wanting to see where Zverev was with his game and it seems he's doing pretty good. If that's the case, it's a very dangerous R2 opponent for Don.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 07:23 AM
Mischa lost the second set, unfortunate. Hopefully he doesn't get down and takes the third.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 07:25 AM
Great start to the set for Misha, break of serve. Now he needs to maintain the momentum.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 07:26 AM
Lu 6-3 over Yang

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 07:31 AM
Petzschner 6-4 over Kudryavtsev

coasterman9
10-08-2011, 07:31 AM
Figured zverev would be a tough matchup for DY. He looks like he will beat Soeda.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 07:33 AM
Double break lead for Mischa, awesome!!! Should be in the clear now.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 07:34 AM
Zverev will be a tough out for sure, if he serves well. With Zverev, the overall quality of his game starts and ends with his serve, and if he's servinh well he can implement his gameplan effectively.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 07:38 AM
Mischa gave up one of the breaks. That's why I'm glad he's two breaks up. A little more security, which he's going to need.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 07:41 AM
Bolelli 6-1 over Wang

coasterman9
10-08-2011, 07:41 AM
Wow he is 2-18 this year!

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 07:49 AM
Mischa saved 15-40 to hold serve for 4-2 in the third. Can he hold on? I guess we'll all have to see what happens but it's definitely a struggle for him.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 07:57 AM
Zverev has 5 main draw match wins this year in challengers+ATP competition. What's most surprising is that he's actually even played 18 ATP tournaments, that his ranking has been good enough for him to make that many main draws. He's qualified a few times as well but never won a match in the MD from qualies.

_Chaz
10-08-2011, 07:59 AM
He just had a MP at Adv-40 on return. Don't know if he had another one.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 08:02 AM
Petzschner def. Kudryavtsev 6-4 6-2

I like Picasso, but this result more or less means Florent won't qualify, given their H2H, so that saddens me. Good return stats for Picasso.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 08:03 AM
Just one MP. Gotta get the win right now.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 08:04 AM
Lu def. Yang 6-3 6-2
Zverev def. Soeda 6-3 5-7 6-4
Bolelli def. Wang 6-1 6-1

STUHL
10-08-2011, 08:05 AM
Zverev wins. Holy Shit!

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 08:06 AM
Good win for Mischa over a guy that he could easily self-destruct against. I don't think he'll beat Young but any win is a positive for him these days. He took a few weeks off so he should be rested and ready to rock indoors.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 08:08 AM
I think Simone has a good shot at Lu now, because Rendy's serve numbers won't cut it against him. 47% first serves and 8 doubles aren't good enough.

Ad Wim
10-08-2011, 08:18 AM
Jeez Go, wtf...

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 08:27 AM
Soeda can lose to anyone.

Now time for Florent to pull off a surprise. His best saving grace is that Ebden just traveled from Japan. Fatigue factor may come into play. Also these courts are slower, so that will be good for him in this match-up.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 08:41 AM
Good comeback by Florent, down 0-40 on return and breaks back. But he's struggled in both his service games and he's gotta pick that up.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 08:54 AM
Florent gets broken again. Every serve game is a struggle, very disheartening. These slower courts hurt Ebden but they also hurt him.

Ebden hit 3 aces and he'll probably take the first set it appears. Florent will have to adjust.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 09:02 AM
Ebden 6-4 over Serra

Ebden started clicking the first serve the end of the first set. Really dangerous moments for Florent now.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 09:20 AM
Florent just isn't serving well enough. Ebden serving 33% yet is untouched on serve in the second set.

Such a shame he got this tough draw, but probably not many other guys he could beat, either.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 09:26 AM
Total tank at the end from Florent. I'm basically done with him. He should be ashamed of his level.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 09:27 AM
Ebden def. Serra 6-4 6-2

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 11:48 AM
Bohli def. Zemlja 7-5 2-6 7-6(5)
Galvani def. Capdeville 2-6 6-4 7-6(3)

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 11:49 AM
Those results make me happy, but Florent losing ultimately makes me unhappy. Florent would have qualified in that Capdeville-Zemlja section.

Anyway, outside of that, everything else went well today.

Filo V.
10-08-2011, 11:51 AM
Final round:
Young v Zverev

Petzschner v Ebden

Lu v Bolelli

Ramos v De Voest

Harrison v Gabashvili

Cipolla v Ilhan

Bohli v Galvani

misty1

Haha, one of Bohli or Galvani will qualify. Jeez.

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 04:48 AM
Ilhan-Cipolla 6-2

Cipolla had two 40-15's on Ilhan's serve and didn't break either game, which ultimately made the difference in the first set. One man took advantage of his openings and the other didn't.

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 04:49 AM
I won't be very pleased if Ilhan qualifies so I hope Flavio comes back.

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 04:58 AM
Ramos-De Voest 6-4

Very close set, won right around the same amount of points and percentage on serve. Just one game the start of the match made the difference.

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 05:08 AM
Ilhan 6-2 *3-0

Guess he's very determined this week. Had never beaten Cipolla until a couple weeks ago and now is destroying him. Surprising.

I hope he draws Cilic or Roddick if he qualifies.

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 05:25 AM
Ilhan def. Cipolla 6-2 6-1

Great victory for Marsel. Saved all 7 break points against and won all but 5 points on the first serve. Cipolla has been in form so this is definitely a positive sign for Ilhan.

With that said, I'll be extremely unhappy if he draws an Andujar, Gong or Troicki and I really badly hope he doesn't.

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 05:57 AM
Ramos def. De Voest 6-4 6-4

Close match but Ramos held off De Voest on the big points, whereas Ramos took advantage of enough of his opportunities.

Li Ching Yuen
10-09-2011, 05:59 AM
Contrary to popular belief, Ramos has quite a bit of potential. And not just clay. Very decent lefty.

Ilhan with the good stuff. Hopefully he draws a weaker opponent, he deserves it.

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 06:48 AM
Young-Zverev 6-3
Ebden-Petzschner 6-3 5-1

Ramos does have some good potential. He's got a legitimate HC game.

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 06:51 AM
Ebden is destroying Picasso, which is a shock. Picasso serving poorly and Ebden serving at a great level. Seems like he's beginning to become a legitimate upper-level player.

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 06:52 AM
Gaba missed three break points in the 4-2 game to break back. Disappointing. He's going to keep getting chances and he must take advantage.

He had no business losing to Ebden. Petzschner should've won. Good win for the Aussie.

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 08:09 AM
I want Gaba to win. He needs the win A LOT more than Harrison does.

Unfortunately, he's struggled on serve and got broken, whereas Ryan has steadied the ship on his serve. Hopefully there can be a turn-around, but looks unlikely.

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 08:10 AM
Bohli-Galvani 6-2 2-1

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 08:11 AM
Picasso tanked the last two games, but he wasn't tanking to get down 3-6 1-4, he just was losing to the better player on the day.

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 08:18 AM
Gaba had 15-30 on Harrison's serve and didn't take it, Ryan hit first serves and then won a second serve point at 40-30. Extremely disappointing missed opportunity. But Ryan is a clutch guy so not unexpected.

Gaba's gonna need a choke.

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 08:23 AM
Keep fighting, Gaba. You can do this.

Filo V.

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 08:39 AM
Simone got the break on Lu and then was re-broken immediately. Atrocious serve numbers in the second set from both, similar to yesterday from both. Probably his last chance to get into the match.

Harrison wins 7-6(3) in 3rd.

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 08:49 AM
Gaba fought really hard, this is still absolutely bullshit. All that work for absolutely nothing, totally down the drain. And he had a 2-*0 second serve lead in the tiebreaker. I just can't believe, tennis is so cruel.

Filo V.
10-09-2011, 08:49 AM
Gabashvili needs the points way more because he's a journeyman trying to get into the top 100 to be able to play ATP events again and get ATP paychecks.

I'm just so disappointed, but I'm used to the feeling when it comes to tennis.
