Nice win by the Aussies, was a quality 4th set and could've been anyone's match.

A deciding Hewitt vs Wawa 5th rubber now looms.

Not surprising. The Gooch is a beast. Pure class from him.

Swiss got screwed by a terrible line call in the 2nd set, Fed's level dropped badly and Wawrinka's confidence went along with it, from then on they were basically target practice for the Aussies.

Fed-Tomic is not in the bag yet, but we all know Wawrinka-Hewitt is.

Better team won. Federer wasn't beasting for that matter, but at least he didn't drag his team down.

I'm not a fan of Guccione but I have to give him a ton of credit, after a shaky first set and a half, he really stepped his game up, playing with I guess a reoccurence of his achilles injury. Served intelligently, hit some great lobs and even out-vollyed Federer in a critical point during the final tiebreak. His height really helps his net game. Lleyton played well throughout the match, and they are a good combination, their strengths and weakness match-up well with each other.

This match turned at the end of set 2 when Guccione hit that lob out, was called in, setting up break point with Australia took and then they served out the set. They had the momentum from the end of the second to the middle of the fourth and the Swiss could never get back control, they looked deflated until the business portion of the fourth. Stan fucked them up too much today to win. Roger played well enough that with a better partner, they could have won.

Well he's won one gold in doubles already. He sure wants to add the singles one. I believe he'll not be playing doubles seriously.

NID. I called this one months ago! The Gooch is simply too powerful and intelligent for Frauderer. Everyone knew the Gooch was going to scalp Muger...why is this thread listing it as some kind of surprise?

This match started out quite simply, as complex things can do. A set of sad transparencies until Muger simply could not see through. But least of all the Fraud inside, behind his phony mask. A prisoner of all his lies that never come to pass. Alone Muger stands corrupted by the power that he sought, and blinded by his ego all his appetites are bought. But in spite of what becomes of you, Muger, your image will remain. A reminder of your constant loss, a symbol of your vain.

And soon Muger has succumbed to what the Fedtards all believe. And though the lie affects them still it's you, Muger, that they deceive. And all at once you're lost within the emptiness of you. And there's no one left who's near enough to tell you what to do. You're left with nothing but your self-potential in the dark, like tinder resting on a rock, protected from the spark. But your fire just consumes you, you alone can feel the pain. But you stand loved by all these Fedtards and you know you can't complain.

But you are surely just as evil as the worst my tongue can tell, For you'll never face the truth and the Fedtards cannot endure your hell. You have lost your chance to mingle with your constant quiet lies. Deceptions hidden with your lips, but spoken with your eyes. For I know you for what you are not for that's really all you are. And your talents of a minor order seem to stretch too far. And we all know that this masquerade can't carry on too long. Muger, you're deep inside the Pride Parade, but where do you belong!?

G00ch was great the whole match! Even better than Hewitt, who despite playing back at his best for some periods also made easy errors.

Anyway if a reward was awarded for the best player, it would go to G00ch!

Mug award to Wawrinka, that easy volley smash he hit into the net sums his performance up.

Ridiculous goeat cheese. Don't know how some people can consider him as God of tennis. He just has a midget mentality and no brain. His tennis is the most boring ever
Really happy for Australian pair, they deserved to win and hope they will win the tie and send arrogant Swiss back to Basel

Roger said in the presser, very frankly, that their chances on Sunday are slim due to Stan not feeling well 'at all', it's not a sure thing that he would play. They both sounded quite down, said they gave it all in the doubles, because the point was critical. It's quite obvious the plan was for Stan to give all he had for the doubles, and for Roger to try and clinch it for them tomorrow.

Now they've lost the point, and Stan apperantly can't play another match, and Roger said of himself that he's 'completely beat up'

doubles consists of two players, one naturally can not win, Lleyton and Gooch played an excellent match.

No way?

If they played Tomic instead of Guccione I couldn't see us winning tbh.

Lleyton just with Bernie never even practise a doubles of not. Lleyton and Gooch played a couple, in Beijing for the Davis Cup and the Olympic Games.

That's what I was getting at. Tomic has barely even played doubles in his career. Word was if Gooch was injured Tomic would play. There is no way Tomic/Hewitt could win.

After the first set The Gooch simply locked down one end... it was a f**king shut out... The Gooch was making the serve talk out there... and all it was saying was 'sorry lads, no points here'...

and so, Audacity is quite correct... Gooch was the foundation that this rubber was built upon... the rock... and that's not subjective... that's a f**king fact...

But of course, if only Federer had committed himself to the Davis Cup, he'd have won it with the great Wawrinka.

highly likely, yes...
