I wonder about my taste in music, what do you think?

Taking a look at my last.fm profile I wondered what people would think about my taste in music depending on my 20 recent played tracks.

Here's the question:
What would you think about my taste in music?

Be honest, just avoid the rudeness

I only like Pink Floyd, but havent heard most of your artists so dont take it the wrong way.

One thing that made me chuckle a little was Phil Collins, I think my parents are too young to like him...

But hell, I like some stuff like Tom Waits and Frank Sinatra that isnt too popular among people my age, so no need to feel ashamed of anything.

Your taste in music lacks an 'edge'.
All middle of the road, easy listening stuff.

You like Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel? Why not explore their early Genesis stuff. That was revolutionary music.

You've got Foreigner, Dire Straits and Bryan Adams there. Why not go for some real rock music? Pink Floyd is a good one, obviously. Maybe you'll like Led Zep, The Doors, Deep Purple, early Rolling Stones, The Who as well?

Strange sort of music for a guy I'd say. Also you don't seem to have much chill out music, I mean you could not put any of those tracks on to lie down with a joint and relax. Try this -

Get some tiesto albums is what I would advise you.

It's 13.33 % actually, I was wrong, those are only my 15 recent tracks ;)

now, I wonder...what if the list would have been this one?
I left Peter Gabriel to show you these were the next tracks played.
I forgot to tell you I always listen to music in random mode, so I don't decide what comes next. I did cheat though, I skipped a few tracks intentionally....(I won't tell :tape: )

I kinda agree with you.
The Doors and some of Rolling S. Not that I don't like the rest, I hardly listen to some of their music, maybe I should start.

This list is great because of PJ Harvey alone. White Chalk is one of those albums I often go back to. As is her latest release, Let England Shake. :worship:

Wow. Most of the responses in this thread seem to come in only one of two flavors: negative or patronizing.

That's why I hate discussing music with people. Every otherwise humble Tom, Dick, and Harry turns into an elitist snot over something as subjective as musical taste.

By the way Sexybeast, I'm 26 and my mom's around 50, and she listened mostly to "Lite Rock" radio stations, which most definitely included Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel. :)

For this reason, Carlito, I have a soft spot for some of those songs as well. The Phil Collins made me smile.

Years ago I watched a short documentary on "ozzie macho factor". It was funny, so I still remember some bits. Like that girl from the crew who interviewed guys on a beach. She approached a hulky blonde guy with strange 80's haircut and asked him "When do you cry?" His expression was priceless, he stared at her like she was completely mad, and after a few seconds said "maybe if I spill my beer". :D Never been to Australia, it is bound to happen sooner or later though. :D

My music taste is all over the place. The last 5 artists played on my iTunes:
Sublime
Adele
Kendrick Lamar
Chris Webby
Sam Adams

I love hip hop, indie rock, alternative, and even some pop.

Out of the ones you posted, I like Nirvana, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, Michael Jackson (who doesn't?), and Kings of Leon.

What the hell, I was just taking a laught at the OP. I really dont look down at anyone because of their music taste, it is very subjective as you say but I dont think people should take it seriously if someone find your music taste odd or funny. I even laught at some things I like myself, like the metal band Anathema with its overly melodramatic lyrics.

Exploring previous decades is inevitable, even desirable, with most of the stuff polluting the charts right now. Of course there's also uncountable sincere artists out there right now, but for most of these you gotta dig deeper.

You have a good taste in music.

A song by Led Zep, The Who, and the Stones and one from Queen and it would be perfect.

Love Dire Straits and Roxette, real 80's.

The first list I find quite dull. Way too cheesy-commercial apart from two or three tunes.

The second one is much better.

There is so much good music around these days that you should broaden your horizons a bit;)

Old/not so old pop, old/not so old rock, progressive etc ( take a look on the music threads here for youtube videos)

Last night for the first time I heard the band " the whitest boy alive ". Incredibly catchy.
