This qualifying draw in comparison to the one in Montreal is quite funny

Looking at the draw, Kei got by far the easiest section. If he's 100% and recovered from his latest injury, he should qualify with ease.

Will be interesting to see how Gulbis does in qualies after doing well in back to back MD's. Will he have the same motivation and energy? And Falla and likely Rochus, not easy matches.

The Bogo v Young match will also be interesting. Bogo is hot and Don got the SF in Washington. Who can keep up the good form? Bogo won at Wimbledon so Don will look for revenge.

The most interesting match will be the Stepanek v Petzschner match likely in the second round. Too bad one of them won't make it. Maybe AHM can cause an upset over Picasso.

Very intriguing, I can't wait till the matches begin!

Please watch Marsel and Somdev and report it. :p Enjoy with it. :)

Thanks. It's a bit of a drive for me and they play first on, so I might not be able to catch the start of it. Hopefully Marsel wins, though. He needs the points more.

Stephanek, Andujar, Nishikori, Niemen, Tomic, Gulbis and Bogomolov to qualify imo.

Better draw than Newport's MD..

misty1
08-13-2011, 03:09 PM
donald a set and a break down to bogomolov

cipolla a break up over sweeting in the 2nd

marsel up a break over somdev in the first

misty1
08-13-2011, 03:10 PM
wait..scoreboard changed...donald still on serve in the 2nd

misty1
08-13-2011, 03:25 PM
bogomolov wins 6-0, 6-4

back to reality for donald

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 03:43 PM
Too bad for Don but that was an expected result. Bogo is way too solid for him.

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 03:44 PM
Hopefully Schoorel can beat Nieminen. That would be a great win for him and a good opportunity for a breakout event possibly at this tournament.

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 03:45 PM
Marsel is serving well today, seems he's found his game. Somdev is a great match-up for him on this fast surface.

Iván
08-13-2011, 03:51 PM
what a comeback from flavio

ibreak4coffee
08-13-2011, 03:55 PM
Sweeting is a joke

Iván
08-13-2011, 03:57 PM
big meltdown from sweeting

at one point the stats was 70%-30% in his favour, was in total control

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 04:05 PM
Ilhan def. Devvarman 6-4 7-6(3)

Expected. Can't push and win on fast courts.

Luinir
08-13-2011, 04:07 PM
Good win. Hopefully he can qualify now.

misty1
08-13-2011, 04:07 PM
marsel gets through 6-4, 7-6:)

good revenge for last time when somdev beat him at home

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 04:08 PM
Sweeting has no business losing to Cipolla at this event. That would be a trash loss, but we all know Ryan is a headcase, and inconsistent, and Cipolla is a horrible match-up for him for those reasons.

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 04:09 PM
Nieminen broke to love to win the second set 6-4 over Schoorel.

I think Ilhan has a better shot at Jarkko than he does with the Dutchman, actually.

Ad Wim
08-13-2011, 04:10 PM
Damn Somdev, bad loss. You should own such a guy by now.

ibreak4coffee
08-13-2011, 04:13 PM
Cipolla serving for the match in the third set up two breaks... and Sweeting has won more points than he has.

Sweeting is a complete joke

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 04:17 PM
Cipolla def. Sweeting 0-6 6-2 6-2

Pathetic result for Ryan. Houston has really been his saving grace this year.

08-13-2011, 04:17 PM
Nice bet Marsel it was

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 04:45 PM
ERV really dominated on serve in the first set over Andujar. If he keeps serving that well he should win in straights for sure.

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 04:46 PM
Johnson 7-6(9) over Chardy.

Normally I'd 100% back Stevie, but Jeremy desperately needs victories. This would be a really damaging loss, he needs the win more.

Ad Wim
08-13-2011, 04:49 PM
Expected from Cipolla.

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 04:51 PM
Schoorel broke to 15 to serve for the match over Nieminen.

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 04:58 PM
Schoorel def. Nieminen 6-4 4-6 7-5

Great win for Thomas, especially winning the close games in the end.

Ad Wim
08-13-2011, 04:58 PM
Nice one, Thomas!

08-13-2011, 05:24 PM
Roger-Vasselin blows four match points then gets immediately broken serving for the match - typical stuff when I need a guy to win

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 05:25 PM
ERV is another choker, and Andujar is a fighter, so sadly not a surprise.

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 05:26 PM
Andujar had zero break points the entire match until that game ERV served for it.

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 05:32 PM
Mannarino a set and break up and goes from *4-3 to 4-6. Third set now up *4-1. Let's see if he holds on this time.

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 05:33 PM
Johnson def. Chardy 7-6(9) 6-4

Jeremy can pretty much say goodbye to top 100 with these latest results. But a great win for Stevie. I'm very happy and encouraged for him.

ibreak4coffee
08-13-2011, 05:35 PM
Roger-Vasselin :rolls:

Up 40-15 to go to a breaker and chokes again. 6-0 Andujar in the third coming up

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 05:35 PM
That's what separates top 50 players and guys who spend their careers toiling out of the top 100.

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 05:45 PM
Mannarino holds after having 40-15 and having to struggle to hold. Already lost one of his breaks, so it's 5-*3 now in the third over Dutra Da Silva.

misty1
08-13-2011, 06:00 PM
adrian wins 6-4 in the 3rd

not really a surprise to see adrian struggle..he did have a hip injury recently so..might be a tiny bit rusty

misty1
08-13-2011, 06:03 PM
julien took the first set over bernard 7-6(7-4) in a set that featured no breaks of serve..not even one oppertunity either

bernard was actually up 4-3 in that tiebreak and serving then lost the next 4 points

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 06:05 PM
Important for Julien. He defends tons of points here and needs wins. Also impressive he won from being behind in the tiebreak given he can be weak mentally.

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 06:07 PM
ERV def. Andujar 6-3 5-7 6-0

24-5 points won for the Frenchman in the third set. Expected win, made it tougher than it should, but great third set.

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 06:08 PM
Only two of the seeds have won so far, out of 7. Ilhan and ERV aren't big surprises, but the other ones can be considered upsets.

misty1
08-13-2011, 06:10 PM
yep, adrian and alex are the only 2 to advance

but to be fair some of the seeds had some really tough matches like somdev getting marsel, pablo getting ERV and jarkko getting thomas so their losses could have been expected.

jeremy and ryan losing though is pretty bad

misty1
08-13-2011, 06:53 PM
radek is struggling against ryhne williams:o

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 06:54 PM
Tomic won the second set tiebreaker 7-3.

Still hasn't been a break of serve in the match.

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 06:54 PM
Rhyne is another good college player in the US but that would be a surprise.

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 06:57 PM
Petzschner replaced by De Voest.

Williams broke when Steps was serving for it. Great performance!

misty1
08-13-2011, 06:57 PM
radek being outdone 9-18 in return points..just rediculous radek

Filo V.
08-13-2011, 07:00 PM
Benneteau the first to break for *2-1 in the third. Hope he now capitalizes and wins.

misty1
08-13-2011, 07:01 PM
julie gets the first break of serve in the match early in the 3rd set

misty1
08-13-2011, 07:09 PM
julien has the chance for the double break

misty1
08-13-2011, 07:10 PM
radek 6-1 now in the tiebreak

misty1
08-13-2011, 07:13 PM
julien has the double break in the 3rd set off a double fault from bernard

misty1
08-13-2011, 07:16 PM
and julien takes it 7-6, 6-7, 6-1

misty1
08-13-2011, 07:43 PM

misty1
08-14-2011, 04:09 PM
julien was rolling along, up 6-2, 5-3

adrian had won 4 points on return all match but then suddenly adrian earned 4 break points when julien served for it and broke on the 3th try

julien than had 15-40 on adrian's serve but adrian held on for 5-5

Gulbis 6-2 4-6 *0-0

Filo V.

Every qualifier should be in with a shot outside of ERV. And most of them are favorites in their matches.
