Why did you choose your nick, if it's not a nick saluting a player?

A lot of people simply take a nick after their favourite player, but a lot of people on the forum have intriguing nicks, that always make me curious as to the story behind them.

Mine is nothing to write home about unfortunately. I was NOT in one of my more creative moods when I joined MTF, and simply stuck "an" onto the name of my island home.

All of my nicks on whatever forum on whatever subject are songtitles from current progrock bands. :)

So if the group disbands, you change your nick? :p

I didn't want to be called GasquetFan or IloveRichie21, it's stupid so he decided to mix up the name of my fav and his (former  ) favourite surface.

But it remains a nick saluting a player, I guess

You were lucky "grass" fit so neatly with the first syllable of his name :) Clayquet wouldn't have worked nearly as well - lol

Well, my fortune is that the top progrock bands tend to stay together for decades at least! :D
The fellow whose songtitle I've borrowed as my nick (and my former one as well, btw) has been making music for exactly 26 years now, and he's surely not going to stop doing so anywhere soon. :p

This is a nick I use elsewhere, too. I've had it for years. When I was registering here I just thought "Bah, I'll take my usual name so I'll remember it." ;)

I'm usually either Kinski or Vampira online. Both movie-related, since I'm a movie nut. Vampira was a Finnish actress/tv presenter who starred in "Plan 9 from Outer Space" and had a fairly distinctive persona. Klaus Kinski was a remarkable German/Polish actor with an equally distinctive persona.

I guess my question would be rather why in the world would you have a tennis player's name in your nickname? It's always seemed weird to me.

I had this name on wta world and used it on atp world that was the original of this site.

Getta
07-26-2011, 05:44 PM
Getta is the shortened version of my real first name, Georgia (Georgetta) that is. i was named after my grandad George and everyone i know calls me Getta.

soft G sound please.
hard G doesn't fit the mold of a softie known for her gentle falsetto.

I'm glad you said... I had assumed hard G, though it's true in most names in which "e" follows, the g is usually soft

I am Chinese, but we used to adopt an English name for convenient purpose. My English name is Miranda. I never was creative, so I just used Miranda when i first joined the message board which belonged to wtatour. I also used the same name in tennisforum. In the beginning, MTF was formed by the members of tennisforum, I wanted to separate myself from tennisforum and was too lazy to think of a good one, so I just used Mimi, the first two letters the same as my user name in tennisforum

Okay that's great. Good country.
Do brazilians have blue eyes? :)

We are a country that embraced many immigrants, I am german/italian so I have blue eyes, my girlfriend is chinese/spanish/black. Lots of people came from Italy/German, some from Russia to work in coffee farms around 1870-1900. After 1905 came a lot of Japaneses too, we are the biggest japanese colony outside Japan.
Check this table:

Main groups of settlers and immigrants in Brazil, from 1500 to 1970
Nationality/origin Number of settlers
Africans 1 4,000,000
Portuguese 2,450,000
Italians 1,622,491
Spaniards2 716,052
Lebanese/ Syrians 100,000[45]
Japanese 248,007
Germans 3 240,000
Poles 4 110,243
