Ok so I'm sitting here wondering what the hell the score is between Paradorn and Jiri Novak. atptennis is not up to date, livescore.com, is not up to date, ditto for yahoo tennis, msnbc tennis or espn tennis. And I can't read Japanese so the Japan Open site is out of the question. Where are you guys? I need ya'll man.

I wish, we hardly get any decent tennis coverage here in Australia. I was hoping one of the sports channels would show some today because Hewitt is playing but unfortunatley they aren't. :(

Sorry guys, just got back.
Novak wins first set 6-4.

I go to www.jta-scoreboard.com. Then on that page there should be a link saying 'game reference' - click on that and it should bring you to a page with a drop down box that has all the dates on it. Scroll down to 8/10 and you should get the scoreboard! If not let me know

sparkus8
10-08-2004, 04:35 AM
That's what I figure, but I have been shafted before and I will be shafted again!

I stayed so far away from the Phau v Ulihrach match. Two average players playing against each other scares me. I was leaning towards Ulihrach though simply because Phau had a tough three setter against Gambill yesterday.

sparkus8
10-08-2004, 04:36 AM
I'm pretty sure Sharapova plays and then Hewitt and then hopefully I can collect my winnings and think about tonights matches.

fenildave,

At the start of the match they toss the coin and asks the winner if they want to serve or first

sparkus8
10-08-2004, 07:31 AM
Shut the gate Hewitt 4-1

Lisbeth
10-08-2004, 07:31 AM
Blue Jay, they toss a coin at the start - winner chooses to serve or receive, then they just alternate every game for the whole match (tie breaks are a little different but I won't confuse you ;) ). So if Saulnier served last in the first set, Hewitt serves first in the second, and so on.

TennisMan85
10-08-2004, 07:31 AM
is a showhand bet remain in my internet account
is quite a considerable amount.
decided to take a risk since i think hewitt isn't on his best of form in this tournament and saulnier is on his peak of his career so why not? ;)

Blue Jay
10-08-2004, 07:32 AM
fenildave,

so they get to serve in each set first, based on the coin toss?

I don't know. Never saw a roof.
I just checked, the stadium has a retrctable roof so the rain shouldn't matter. I'm guessing if it is raining they might not have closed it in time thus it needs to have a little bit of mopping up done before play can resume.

This is one strange scoreboard: it has MaShona Wasington leading Koukalova 3-0, but this match was finished ages ago!
I just looked at that to, i think they might have screwed up and that score is actually the Phau v Ulihrach match. If so someone is ahead 3-2 in the first set. The Washington v Koukalova match was the first of the day so it definitely isn't that one.

I am a big fan of Johansson and he has a good record against Soderling! I also think Ferrer might be able to spring an upset over Bjorkman. Bjorkie doesn't seem to be playing too well and Ferrer is playing alright at the moment. But a majority of my cash will be on Johansson into a couple of the womens matches at Filderstat.

Noone would've expected that, but he was playing against two japanese guys in front of their home crowd and they would of been fired up big time. At least he came back and won the matches, there are plenty of other guys on tour who would have just thrown the towel in.

Not really because sometimes the no.1 and no.2 in the world doesn't fit each other. What I want to say is that a lower ranked player like Agassi or Nalbandian can trouble him more because they fit more to Federer's game.

Tennis is not about rankings.

Of course, Roddick is all about his serve. He can't match from the baseline against Hewitt. Also Hewitt's return is much better.

Roddick=overrated

Even Safin is better. He just has some headproblems.

Too true, Hewitt's game does not match up at all well with Federer because he is not really an attacking sort of player. The guys who trouble Federer from time to time are the ones who go right at him and try to put him under pressure straight away.

you can take any slice of form or vein of good luck to suggest that any given player in the top 10 at some point this year was a deserved #2. But there's no substantive case to make that hewitt is the 2nd best player on tour.

If Hewitt wins this week, then there will be only 15 race points between him and Roddick. It's that close for number 2.

I'm not saying he is the 2nd best player in the world, but when this year is done and dusted and you look at all the stats Hewitt would have had the 2nd best year behind Federer.

Timster is a real riot. He briefly experimented in an email tipping service, unfortunately the results would come out a day late, but of course they were all winners. For the bargain price of 30 pounds a month he offered subscribers access to insider data gathered by his 'special agents' on the ground at every tour event. Classic.
