A close one but what's more noteworthy is that an American won.

Bjorn Fratangelo

Born in U.S.A and turns 18 next month. Should move up to #2 in juniors with win, around 1400 in ATP rankings, career best senior result is QF at U.S.A futures a month ago.

Gotta love the name. Very American.

Lets hope he shows this fight in the challengers and then eventually ATP tournaments. Could well be a decent all-surface player.

Very unexpected win for Bjorn. I wonder how his coaches will percieve this and I wonder how much it will change his future.

Gotta love the name. Very American.

I don't know exactly in which consists an American name, anyways his surname belongs only to the Molise (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molise) region of Southern Italy. It literally means "friar-angel" and sounds really funny to me like the 99% of Southern Italian surnames. Love his name though :D

Yes they are. His dad is his coach and he is in fact named after Borg.

Here's the transcript from the post-match press conference, which has some good info:

In the press conference he says this:

Q. Fratangelo is Italian surname?

BJORN FRATANGELO: Yeah.

Q. Your family is origins are from Italy, or not?

BJORN FRATANGELO: From Italy, yeah.

Q. Do you know where exactly?

BJORN FRATANGELO: Yeah. Campobasso. The town is called Castellina (indiscernible). I think it's about I want to say two hours outside of Rome. I don't know which direction.

Q. Your father was born in...

BJORN FRATANGELO: Yeah, he was born and raised in Italy, and he moved to the States when he was about nine or ten years old.

Q. Can I try to find out a little more about the Italian roots? Do you speak Italian at home, or do you understand Italian, or nothing at all?

BJORN FRATANGELO: Nothing really.

Q. Have you ever been in Italy?

BJORN FRATANGELO: Yeah, I played the tournament in Milan, the Trofeo Bonfiglio. This is actually my first time in Europe, to be honest with you guys. That was the first time in Italy.

I don't know much about Italian geography, so I don't know if this conflicts with what you said above.

Well done, but rarely does the winner of RG junior become a contender in men's tennis.
