Roland Garros Scheduling.

Why the hell have they got both women's matches on court first and then both the men's matches after it? Surely the logical thing to do is to have one men's first on one court the the other one second.

organizers are subjective buffoons who are limited in their thinking.

Doesn't make much sense but I think since we're getting to the latter stages of the tournament, they don't want to give one guy a small advantage by getting an extra couple hours of rest. Shouldn't matter regardless, but I think they want to avoid a situation where

Chatrier: men's match is first up and is super short
Lenglen: men's match is second up and is a 5 hour marathon after a long women's match

But it still shouldn't matter, they've been clownish with it this year

Probably to get the Women's QF's over with, since they have to come back and play SF's the next day. ;)

They should be starting earlier though.

It's not like the WTA deserves such attention.

Both the men's semifinals will be the last match of the day (due to interest) so they're going down that route and making things as equal as possible as far as time between QF's and SF's for both the men and women involved in tomorrow's matches.

Li Na has played all of her matches first thing in the morning because this way they come off as perfect to watch for the Chinese audience (at around afternoon) which needless to say ensures a large TV rating, for RG and the Chinese networks as well, who in case of a good performance from her will broadcast her matches on 5-6 channels at a time.

Because it's run by the French who are always clueless about business.

thats true

for all the problems, RG is still much better than the USO in the scheduling aspect.

Because this way all tv stations have to show one women and one men SF. Otherwise they would show only the men's matches because no major station nobody cares about WTA, they only care about ratings.

Obviously that's the fairest way to to do it but some people aren't happy when they don't have anything to whine about

So the guy on NBC says that after 2 hours, they may postpone the match to tomorrow. This is hardly fair whoever wins this semifinal considering Nadal will have 1 day of rest on them if that happens. How many times are RG organizers gonna get their scheduling wrong? Are they the worst?

It's pretty ridiculous, indeed. Most of all the decision to not start earlier than 2:00 PM! :stupid:

The French should hire Americans to organize their tournament for them.

Whoever decided to start at 2 should be fired. What if Nadal/Murray had gone 4, let alone 5? Fed/Djoker would barely have gotten two sets in.

Poor scheduling and no floodlights is why the French Open is comfortably the worst of the 4 Slams.

Playing qtrs at the same time is almost as dumb as starting two best of of 5 set mens matches at 2pm when you have no friggin' lights.
