This GS match - no appalling BP record as in the AO 2008 match, and quickly snuffed out any BP chances Tipsarevic had.

The first set in an astounding 19 minutes, and the rest was smooth sailing. Serving well and some classic Federer shots. A few really nice BH DTL winners

Can't really say Tipsy ever looked like winning this - a brief competitive spell in the first part of the 2nd set, winning a couple of long rallies. After the early break in the 3rd, Fed decided to let the paying spectators see a bit more tennis :D

An impressive and very clean performance from Roger today! :yeah:
Easier than I expected. Solid serving and some high-class trick shots from Da Master.
Looked like Rog was enjoying himself out there, good to see.

That's three decent performances in a row now. Hopefully he will manage to keep up this level of playing in his next match(es) - and not ressort to being Wogie Mc. Shankerer when it will truly matter. ;)

Almost every longer point was won by Tipsarevic but there have been like 7-8 of them in the whole match.Mostly 3-4 shots/rally and this is the kind of tennis where Federer is the best.

Incredible serving from Roger. The few times he was bp down, he hit an ace or unreturnable, Janko won almost every long rally but was totally clueless on Fed's service games.

No he didn't.

There are a few differences in Federer right now:
- His rallying is much improved, he can stay in the point longer.
- His serve is more consistent, and there are fewer lapses in concentration.
- His backhand shanking is greatly reduced.
- More importantly: The forehand looks very very secure.

True it also helps that he is a CORE moonballer & he is starting to push more & more,,so as well as his mentality his gamestyle affects fed,,well atleast on clay that is as fed leads the h2h off-clay.

hehe solid? Understatement to say the least. Roger's serving won him the match. Almost all the long rallies were won by Tipsy...but he had no chance to get into the match due to Feds superb serving. However, Fed (yes, even olderer) usually has NO problems against lower ranked opponents, it's when he faces Rafa, Nole that he begins to show his nerve/age as they return extremely well (especially Nole), expose his backhand and make him move...and Olderer cannot hang in long rallies against the very best anymore. He's slower, can't protect his backhand side and loses nerve on big points. But if he can serve like he did today and keep points short, he'll certainly have his chances.

Fed playing like this is bad news for Novak & good news for nadull. The only player that I can realistically see defeating nadull in Novak,,but while fed should lose to Novak he can extend him like the USO & present nadull with a tired Novak in the final....Strangely Novak fans should be praying for Murray to do well to even the senario imo.

If Fed has a great serving day like today, he's bad news for Rafa and Nole. It's not like Rafa will be fresh anyway, he's spent way to much time on the court ALREADY and is likely to spend much more in the next few upcoming matches. So, even if Fed takes Nole to 5 sets in the semis it won't be the same scenario as USO, where Nadal had cake draw and was fresh in the final and Nole dead tired due to his excellent but LONG match against Fed. They'll both be equally tired and physically exertion will be issue for both of them, should they both reach the final that is.

I watched part of this match and Federer was serving superbly. If he keeps this level of serving up he is a dark horse for the title at the French Open, and could well win both Wimbledon and the US Open. Tipsarevic just could not return Fed's first serve.

Tipsarevic has a decent first serve, but he just couldn't get it in half the time. But when it did get into a protracted rally, Tipsy looked solid and Federer's equal, and often won the point. I can see how pushers and grinders would struggle against Tipsy. But Federer made sure that points were short so dominated the match.

If Fed keeps this up he could dismantle Djokovitch a la WTF semi-final, and he might even take out Nadal too (but I wouldn't bet on the latter).

He's also the greatest all-courter of his generation. The best since Lendl who has 48 wins at all the slams. Tied with Agassi at 46.

So summary.

3R win

- extends 4R streak to 28, 1 behind Lendl.
- 46th RG win (ties Agassi for most at all 4 slams).

4R win

- extends QF streak to 28, breaking Connor's record of 27/27
- 47th RG win (passes Agassi, 1 behind Lendl at 48).
- 47th RG win (ties Wilander for 5th all-time at RG).

QF win

- 48th RG win (ties Lendl for the record at all 4 slams)
- 48th RG win (1 behind Borg for 4th all-time at RG)
- 28th SF appearance (ties Lendl, 3 behind Connors at 31)
