Most disappointing result of the tournament :( Sorry Nikolay but losing to this under-average journeyman, to this nobody, is completely unacceptable. You are finished for good.

What an upset. Good for Veic, this guy fights like hell. Amazing luck on that 3rd set set-point, one of the few points I saw! Hits a lob that lands on the baseline, another shot that clips the end of the baseline, and then a dead netcord to seal it.

Feel like this might really be the beginning of the decline for Davy. Just has not been able to find his game again, really relies on good form and confidence, when you have such a small margin for error.

Good for the game.

Retire, you bald mug.Shut up, moron. It's good for Nadal, not the game.

Kolya was terrible. But the way he lost the third set was too pathetic. He was 4-2* 40-15 at one point, and Veic won the set with a netcord on Davy's serve.

One of the few sensible posts in a sea of nonsense. Veic is very limited but runs all day and fights very hard. The dead net cord to see win the 3rd set even he was embarrassed by it.

Davydenko everything with him is about timing, so a slight drop in speed or reaction time, then he will spray everything long. Then when you're not winning too many matches, the lack of confidence plays a part as well.

Great for Veic, but it ends next round.

Veic is 23 so he's not that old. Could take Nadal to 3 hours again! Go Veic!

MaxPower
05-26-2011, 05:07 PM
I seriously think Veic has a better shot at Nadal anyway. Davy wouldn't have been able to recover. This Veic dude doesn't seem to be a mental midget like Nadal played today either.

yeah it's a bit retarded to say that a qualifier has a shot at the current world nr1. But that's how bad Nadal has looked lately

Well not sure if Veic will challenge Rafa as much as Andujar today, but it sounds like he would definitely close out a 5-1 40-0 lead since he has some mental strength.

I was saying all along nadull always has easy draws,,,,in actuality...It might seem difficult on paper but it becomes very easy with numerous spanish mugs bending over,,,hoping to see this veic fella not completely destroyed...as I don't think denko was in the form to defeat nadull but maybe this "runner" is just what the doctor ordered.

Didn't see the match but when i saw the score at 2-2 in sets i tought Veic will loose 5th set like 6-1 and then he wins it with that result. :p

His best result of career, big fighter (kinda similar to Dodig in that) with limited game and weapons. But clay suits his game well so it's not suprise he made a breakthrough here.

I'm happy but disappointed at the same time. I thought the Croat would make it tough on him, but I was crossing my fingers this idiot would not choke it away. While having prior knowledge of his abysmal performance against Ljubicic, I really was hoping, please please don't choke here, I want to see him go against Nadal.

Well, now here's the situation.

1. In one way I'm happy for the Croat, he'll have Kolya's name on his resume.
2. In one way I'm disappointed because now Kolya fans will say "You can't assume Nadal would ever defeat Davydenko at a slam because they've never faced"

Nadal might be facing Ljubicic as well if Verdasco decides to choke.

Davydenko looked very slow compared to his playstation ways of a year or two ago. Veic played with a lot of heart and has a pretty decent forehand. Can't see him troubling Nadal though, cinderella story ends here.

Why fitness problems? His injury was 1 year ago and he is not too old for sure. He hides his personal life pretty well but I would vote for mental health problems. With his talent these results really have no excuse.

It's amazing how lucky Davydenko is. Just when he was about to lose to Nadal he chokes against this mug and keeps his fake and misleading H2H against the GOAT :( Why can't Nadal have Murray's and Djokovic's luck as of late? I hope luck is balanced for the rest of the tournament. Soderling and Murray might lose and help Nadal. Vamos Juan!!!

Disgusting that Nadal has to face the #220 in the third round of a grand slam, so unlucky.

The epic run keeps going on, amazing stuff from Antonio, he said he was overwhelmed playing a legend like Davydenko (2times semifinalist, Nadal demolisher), as soon as he relaxed he said it was no different then playing guys at the CH tour; of course Davydenko is far from his best, spraying Ue left and right, but you have to take the chances life gives you, Veic was able to do that...

People get to know him now a bit more, down to earth guy who likes to call himself a true dirtballer, 150% clay, fast legs, quick hands, but no strength, no power, for his height he has an Ok serve, not so much in love with the net play; likes to dropshot...

He had it very tough, similar to Dodig, no funding, playing in Croatia and Italy to cut down expenses, relying on WC in Croatia, but the will and fighting abilities were there and he mad it were he wanted to be, Phillipe Chatrier, main draw match against the current clay king (not for long)..

So hats off for this achievement, the kid has come far showing real cojones...

When i saw him play the first time, someone would have said this kid would be in the 3rd round of RG, i would have shaken my head; in the end this is why we love tennis..

As i can see, Davydenko still in love with Betfair.
Kolya has done it in the past, but he is an awful state, no way this was a fix, not at RG, so cut the BS
