Why So Serious?
05-26-2011, 12:13 PM
Well this was unexpected, Mayer was having a good claycourt season.

Only watched till 2nd set. Did Mayer fold?
Was he injured or tired?

Otherwise an unbelievable result. That section is totally open now, anyone can reach QF.

05-26-2011, 12:14 PM
Shocked. Falla's career suddenly has new life

05-26-2011, 12:14 PM
Wow. RG full of surprises. But I like this one, poor Falla always under the radar.

 Challaneger section of the draw.

05-26-2011, 12:15 PM
Didn't have a chance to see the match but did he run out of gas in the 3rd and 4th or something? I was expecting him to win. Guess that 2nd set TB was the key to the match

05-26-2011, 12:15 PM
What has happened to Falla?

Flo :( Disappointing loss.

05-26-2011, 12:16 PM
Flo  Couldn't find much range today. Had chances to take the 2nd set 7-5 but missed them.

05-26-2011, 12:16 PM
Not more than 30 or 40 days ago Falla lost two times to Bagnis..

Typical turn around match. Mayer had the match under control: led 3:1 (40-30) in the 2nd set, later on a set point at 6:5.

great win, akward shots failed for flo

05-26-2011, 12:19 PM
Mayer won the World Team Cup last week, probably slightly too much tennis.

05-26-2011, 12:25 PM
Is this really that much of a surprise? mayer is well capable of losing to anyone

That second set by Mayer was a text-book choke.
On top of that it was Verdasco-level monumental.

Good fight from Falla though.

05-26-2011, 12:32 PM
Too bad. :(

Falla in road to school Melzer in R4

05-26-2011, 12:35 PM
I'm not sure Düsseldorf was good idea for him. He would have had good chance here.

Good win Alejandro!!! :bigclap:

Falla vs. Kubot in R3 :haha:

Anyway, thanks for the money Alejadro :yeah:

05-26-2011, 12:55 PM
Mayer :(

Could have gone so much further in the draw!

Falla vs. Kubot in R3 :haha:

It sure is looking that way. Djokovic vs del Potro and Falla vs Kubot, two extremes of third round matches.

My favourites are dropping like flies in RG. What else is new?

Would have loved to see Kubot - Mayer. Would any of them win over 30% of their second serves? Who would come to the net more? Who would choke the most? I guess the last one still stands though

Did not see the match, but very disappointing.

Flo had a set and break lead, and looked to be in control, but when Falla got the break back in the second, he was in total control of almost all rallies, moving the ball around side to side and down the lines. Flo was very poor at the end of the last two sets and seemed to be physically struggling, did anyone see what happened?

Falla really earned this victory, congrats to him. Played an aggressive and tactically intelligent match.

Yup, have to say I thought that was terrible scheduling. This is a guy who can barely go 3 x 3-setters without running out of gas at the best of times, and is notorious for poor results after a full week of tennis.

Might be he didn't expect to have won so many matches lately, and couldn't bring himself to withdraw from a team event - but ffs, it's not the Davis Cup, it's a glorified exhibition.

Thsnk god, Grass is coming soon.

Yeah I think Mayer was just too tired, could barely serve, most of his first serves went straight down in the gut of the net.

What's funnier is that Falla might get past Kubot as well because the Pole is himself tired as hell.

05-26-2011, 02:31 PM
wtf? :(

Unreal. we all knew almagro's scheduling was retarded but like philo points out, not wise for a lanky fucker who isn't exactly known for his fitness.

he missed RG last year so this was a great chance to really consolidate his top 20 place

05-26-2011, 03:31 PM
Florian? :help: How did you lose to Falla? He's dreadful :help:
