Schoorel was the better player the first games, then he just completely collapsed. He surely didnt match up well with a good defender like Wawa that is nevertheless very good from both wings, but Schoorels performance was very bad from halfway the first set on. Especially his important service wasn't working. Still a very good tournament for him, you can't expect him to beat a top 20 player in his first GS immediately, how bad Wawa's form might have been.

Too bad, really thought he stood a chance.

I'm truly disappointed with tall Dutch... expected at least one set more...

I only able to watch bits and pieces of this match because of a completely f*cked *p livestream :shout: which kept on buffering 90% of the time (and of course Dutch TV didn't bother with broadcasting it at all, hey, what's new... tennis barely exists in my country.).

Yes, a bit of a disappointment. I honestly thought Schoorel would have a chance, albeit a very small one, and at least I didn't expect such rather humiliating set scores.
I read that Schoorel felt very nervous about this match, and that after a decent start, he played much too passively, allowing Wawrinka to take controll in about every game. There's obviously still a lot of work to be done for Schoorel and his team, not at the least at the mental department - which seems to be a major problem with all of the Dutch players, except perhaps Haase.

But hey, what are we talking about? The fellow managed to climb some 900 ATP ranking spots in the past two years, and has entered the top-100 for the first time in his career! Not too shabby! Hope he manages to get a lot of positives from his run at RG (also won three qualification matches, nothing to sniff at), and keep on believing in yourself, Thomas! :hatoff:

Congrats to Wawa of course as well. ;)

Good one Stan, didn't think it would be this easy.
Too bad for Schoorel but he already had a good tournament.

Tsonga-Wawrinka is really 50-50 to me.
