Best result for the Ukrainian here, never a bad day when a Brad Gilbert coached player loses.

Stackhouse is one of the toughest players mentally.

stakh is so good in tiebreakers

this looked like a potential upset but good for him getting the win

Mental giant! Another TB won.

Had 4-2 and bp in the 4th, Nishi got to 6-5 and 0-30 on Stak serve. But he served it out and was flawless in the TB.
Very good result, on fire when going into his grass season.

He had a break in the 4th, then got broken. Played a top quality tb, probably won't go further but 3rd round is good enough.

Nishikori seems to go backward technically. His groundstrokes are just average now and he seems to have lost a bit of fire/creativity. He should get rid of Gilbert/Bollettieri.

Something really relatable about the Ukrainian's game. He does everything well but nothing outstanding, he really has to set up his points and he fight well, and he beats who he's supposed to and occasionally beats someone he's not supposed to.

Nishikori is the opposite, he has no outstanding shot and a lot of good ones but he's been pampered and hyped his whole career and has only disappointed. Good for the game Stakhovsky won, I hope he pulls the upset on Ferrer even though the chances are slim :yeah:

How are those 2 things opposite?

LOL?

Let me guess, you made a stupid bet and lost once on him?

I actually was on Stahovsky on this match :)

But of course he is not mentally strong. Average to bad Id say.

Nah, Stakh is definitely mentally strong, good TB break player and a 4-0 record in finals. Also, this looked like a great match, annoyed I missed it :(

No I mean they're the same but Stakhovsky uses his limited abilities to their maximum effect, without having gotten any outside help, while Nishikori uses those same talents to do nothing and remain overhyped. To me they have similar abilities while one is a fighter and one is a mug, sorry if that wasn't more clear.

36 and 59 aren't that different. Nishikori has won a title, he's no Donald Young.

I wish he would get rid of Gilbert and Bolleteri. They have seemed to kill his creativity that he once had in abundance.

THIS.

I like Stakhovsky and his style, he surely enjoys the new RG conditions. I do wish the best for Kei and kicking Brad Gilbert the fuck out would be good for starters.

Just finished watching the match.
Stakhovsky player really well, he was clucth on big points and in TB. Also, maybe the new Babolat ball suited his game more than Kei's.
I'm worried Kei's TB record is getting worse and worse this season. He also should've attacked Stakhovsky's FH side more.

O well, better luck in the grass season!

I'm liking your posts. :)

Stakhovsky's 3rd straight Grand Slam 3rd round. Should be able to do the same at Wimbledon as he should be seeded 25-32 again.

I thought Kei would win, so good win for Stak - he'll be hard pressed to beat Ferrer but a good result for him here

Kei started really solid at start of the season but he couldn't take a step forward. He is already a good player but with that display he is not gonna be top 20.

Stakhovsky playing well lately and probably conditions suiting well to him here in Paris as Madrid.

Good win for Stak, he has a nice game to watch.

Agree with you guys about Kei, but his main problem is that he's made of glass. There's always an injury or a sickness lurking around him. Will be hard to see him play to his potential or make an accurate judgment on his game until he has an extended period of tennis free from those problems.
